    Hi mate

    He is right.

I have just bought a new iMac which comes with Mavericks and when I use KA6 with it I get distortion after a few minutes. I have to then shut down Logic and then re-start it to get rid of the popping etc. However, it comes back after a few minutes which means that it is impossible for me to work on this computer. The same problem happens with Live and iTunes.

KA6 works fine on my MBP which is still running ML (thank God I did not 'upgrade' to Mavericks).

I've been in touch with NI and they say it is a known problem, that they are in touch with Apple about it, but that he cannot say any more as there has been no official statement made by NI on the topic. I have phoned around music tech shops in London and lots of people are experiencing the same issue.

I've updated the firmware etc to no avail. Mavericks has been out for 3 months now so it is a joke that NI have not fixed the problem. In fact, it should be made clear on their site that one should not buy KA6 if you use Mavericks. I am buying a new soundcard tomorrow.

NI - great products - dreadful tech support.

    Hi,

i can't recommend you to buy a different sound card because it seems that this is an iMac late 2013 (+Fusion drive?) issue.

Some people wrote that it will be solved with Mavericks 10.9.2 but we can't know it until the update is released.

Just to add my voice to the masses, I've been trying to use NI with Cubase Artist 7 for the best part of the day. Thought there was an issue with Cubase's interoperability with OS Mavericks when I was having all the issues with it initially. Reading this it's pretty clear the problem is with the sound card.

One thing: I installed the KA6 driver on to my Mac and updated my system preferences to go for the KA6 on my sound input/ outputs. However, after having restarted my laptop the KA6 option has disappeared from the menu and I'm back to using the internal sound card. I reinstalled the KA6 driver but I couldn't make the driver reappear in the systems preferences menu. I presume this is all related to the same problem as before, however:

1 - By installing the driver twice have I set myself up for any future potential problems?
2 - How do I uninstall the driver when my OS doesn't even seem to register that it's installed at all, let alone twice?
3 - Where (if anywhere) is the best place to sign up so that as soon as the driver update comes through I hear about it straight away?

    Thanks!

    Same.

Also, when I open up System Preferences and click on the NIUSBAudio icon, there is a message under Komplete Audio 6 that says "the selected device is not supported by this panel. to setup the device please refer to audio-midi-setup."

Now I'm on Mavericks for a few weeks - all works fine (iMac late 2009).
It seems, that it's an fusion drive issue (new iMacs).

I posted about this in the Maschine forum but yeah, I'm having the exact same problem and my Macbook is a late 2009 version. It was really bad yesterday around teatime then I went back to it about 5 or 6 hours later and it was totally fine. Hopefully something will get done to sort the problem.

I have traktor audio 6. Bought it about 2 years ago. It was originally working fine on my mac when I had snow leopard. Then I didn't use it for a while and in that time I had to wipe my mac. Currently running on mavericks and all I get when I run the Audio 6 with timecode vinyl is extremeley loud disotorted low bit-rate sound. The drivers are working sort of though because I can switch it to direct through and the vinyl's I have play fine. But this defeats the whole point of the product considering i cant use the software and timecode.

So far no response from NI..

Hi, I had the same problem, distorted sound after a while of playback. My conclusion was that the USB ports on the mac are the culprit (I have a MBP 15" mid 2010). The solution that worked for me was to buy a external powered USB hub (D-Link 7 ports). Connected that to the first USB port and distortion is gone. The only thing I'm trying to conquer now are random pops and clicks. But that might as well be my homes electrical circuit.

I had a similar sounding issue with Cubase Artist 7/ OSX. I ended up getting the solution from Cubase tech support:

"Please download and install the update 7.0.7 and delete the preferences folder (see instructions below):

    Update 7.0.7: http://download.steinberg.net/downloads_software/Cubase_7_and_Cubase_Artist_7/7.0.7/Mac/Cubase_7.0.7_Update_mac.dmg

Please reset your Cubase by generating a new preferences folder.
In order to do so you must rename the folder mentioned below. Note that since Mac OS X 10.7.x the user library is hidden. To access it, please click on the "Go" menu in the menu bar of the Finder. When the "Go" drop down menu appears, you need to press and hold the key "alt" on your keyboard which adds the “Library” entry to the menu.

    Now please rename

    "/Users/<Your Username >/Library/Preferences/Cubase 7"
    to
    "/Users/<Your Username >/Library/Preferences/Cubase 7 inactive"

Important: If you find folders of previous Cubase versions, make sure to hide or remove them, too.

If this procedure solved your problem, please compress the "Cubase 7 inactive" folder and send it to us attached to your reply. That way we can analyse the preferences files and try to find the cause of this issue.

Preferences that you have grown accustomed to and that have taken a lot of time to configure - the key commands for instance - can be copied from the inactive folder to the newly created active preferences folder at a later point."

Don't know if that will work for others but maybe worth a shot :)
