Nice. Traktor is class. I’ve just bought a second hand S8 and ditched my Denon prime gear.

Yes I saw the screen mod over the years and how it has developed. I downloaded straight away. I really like it.

I had the Denon prime 4 and it just didn’t have great build quality. Loose faders that where a lot were snapping off for users. Not great effects at all. The software has improved a lot, with flexi beatgrids. I still have a prime go but will sell that in the spring. I like Traktors implementation with Beatport. I think Traktor has improved in last year of two.

    Hey, Snowseals
I spoke generically about such programs. I have tried all these programs like mp3tag, musicbee, musicbrainz, rekordcloud and many others that are designed to work with tags, they are all some unfinished stubs (may the developers forgive me). I even though to create my own, NORMAL!, which will do what a DJ or music lover expects from it. Namely, the functions of working with tags that are really needed. Obviously, dj programs is not aimed at making its browser something more than a regular browser, and this is their policy, they can be understood, but I always have big questions for those developers who create the programs for tags editing, I want to ask them "dudes, what have you done here, everything works upside down"))

I don't even mind helping one of developer with a tag program so that it really will what needs.

Ahh, so you didn't test out One Tagger at all?
And now assume it's as bad as the other apps? lol

I get your frustration though, hence we made this app from the ground up.
Check an indepth comparison based on 7600+ tracks to see One Tagger is best of all:

well, it probably sounds abstract on my part, but it's just that usually when you install this type of program, they know how to pull tags from some databases, for example, but these databases have no practical application.
For example, here is a program that pulls up data from spotify, acoustic properties, dancing, energy, and so on, but which DJ will use this in his tags in his library? these are data that represent nothing, they are useless. Also, the programs work rather poorly with determining the mood, the right genre and other properties of the track, and all because there is no suitable database on the Internet. Most likely, it will have to be created by the developers themselves.

Here is one idea that has been spinning in my head for a long time: - you give DJs the opportunity to put a genre in the tag field, and this statistics is collected from all computers, after that, any DJ can click on the "genre" field in his program and there he will be shown in percentage terms what genre other DJs have chosen. And so with other parameters.

Yeah, you obviously only touched the surface, cause the critics you mention are already taken care of with One Tagger.

For example, you can decide where to write the Audio Features tag-wise to, so you can read them out in your favorite DJ s/w.

You can also decide where to write your own pre-defined Genres, Moods, Energy and so on, tag-wise.
Perhaps you don't care about Label, or Album anyways when it's the track that counts.
Then overwrite these with the Mood and Valence or Danceability for example.
And use the star rating for to define your own Energy ranking.

Inside One Tagger's help section there's a full-blown overview which tags you can use (read shows) inside the particular DJ app.

Anywho, if u have suggestions or requests, do leave them at the GitHub repo here, cause we're going off-topic:

Very nice looking and impressive tool you've written there!
As for the above statement - so all analyzed/retreived auto-tag results can be rerouted/written to any metadata field...? (i.e. I could write multi-value Musicbrainz genres [retrieved through OneTagger] to (a custom field name eg) 'MusicbrainzGenre' field instead of the standard 'TCON'/GENRE field (on id3/vorbis)...?)
If you can, I'd immediately see if I can adopt it to my workflow... ;)

    Thanks!
No, sorry for the confusement. Genre is the only one that is static regarding where to write it.
But, as a workaround, I suggest to use Mp3tag in the middle.

Simply add an action that will copy over the stated genre to ORIGINAL_GENRE, and delete the Genre tag itself.
Then use One Tagger to for ex. add/overwrite Genre to GENRE tag.

This way you end up with your ORIGINAL_GENRE and GENRE fetched by One Tagger.

Attached a mp3tag action as workaround (Windows only). Drop it inside here:
    `C:\Users\YOURUSERNAME\AppData\Roaming\Mp3tag\data\actions`

If you are on macOS , you can't import .mta action files from Windows.
But it's fairly easy to create your own.
Lemme know if u need help.

    Thanks for the reply!
Unfortunately that's a no go for me. I already have to maintain & rerun metadata fix Scripts (via python/mutagen) to fix the mess Traktor/Serato/Rekordbox leave behind (as none can handle multi value metadata and mutate & destroy user data on analyze...).
So yet another edge case to run and maintain extra scripts for is a fairly big inconvenience... So I'll test oneTagger, but it would have to be extraordinary with the genre caveat...
When I'm back in from of the workstation might add it as an issue on GitHub, if it's worth considering opening up the genre value target, as all other have been from the sounds ?

    Churs.

    Yeah, edge case it is...
If you're willing to take the extra mile, u can hardcode it by changing where Genre should be written in the source code.
    It is open-source after all.

    Change Field::Genre tags in id3.rs, flac.rs

Despite we've tried to make it as much user-custom friendly, this one seem to be super edge-case lol.
Why would you want AND your own genre tag and the one from ex. MusicBrainz (which u couldn't show in any of these DJ apps coz they only support Genre)?

I already have (hand set) genres that are true for my musical world... So these mustn't be touched by any auto tagger...
I also pump discogs Genres & styles into custom fields (for additional angles as well as for discovery fun for muusicBee's genre hierarchy viewer .... For that additional (platform specific) genre definitions come in very handy - but only if they can co exist... i.e be written to a custom fields. The default genre field is off limits for any auto tagger a for me (bar new arrival files...)

    Hope that makes sense.

Hm, editing posts on mobile is a mess on this forum... :/

As to why I don't care about the limitations: neither of the big dj apps is up to date with metadata display nor editing. This being the reason I went DJ platform agnostic and have musicbee as my central library/playlist/history hub - so I can jump between Traktor/Serato/Rekordbox as needed when DJing as neither can handle metadata as it has been the de facto standard for 2 decades i.e. making full use of custom as well as multi value metadata values.
