Key Detection PLEASE!

I would like to see key detection implemented in traktor.

I loved having it in VDJ and after switching to traktor and having every ability/feature under the sun, it seems silly that it doesn't have the ability to detect the key of a song!

I really don't want to have to use another program to do this and I'm sure there are others who would agree.

In-key mixing can be great on rare occasions. But it's not good to do it regularly, it limits your options too much. Imo, people that use in-key mixing for virtually every transition tend to play genres that haven't seen any innovations in ages (e.g., Trance). It gives them the illusion they're doing something that's new and interesting.

Hence, I'd rather see the Traktor developers concentrating their efforts on other features (such as flexible beatgrids).

+1 ... Why is mixing in key overrated? You prefer dissonance? I agree that one should be as flexible as possible, and there are other priorities besides mixing in key (e.g. song selection, which should always trump imo), but I can't imagine any situation where having the information available to you would be a detriment.

Of course, you can just use Mixed in Key or RE if you want automated key information, but it sure would be a handy feature to have built right into traktor.

 

I also want key recognition in Traktor.

Mixed-in-Key and RE have limited use because they do not allow for pitch/bpm change when playing a track. Key recognition needs to be dynamic and visible for native pitch & currently playing if key is not locked.

Key detection

+1 mixing in key helps a crappy dj start to understand what is going on musically in his or her tracks, any proper dj program needs it. Mixmeister pro has it, just borrow their code.

And yes i there are 3rd party programs and plugins, but built-in would be better.

I love mixing in key using the key-lock but it would be great to see at a glance what key tracks are in when looking in the browser to see which things would harmonize
