    Hi all,

When running Kore 2 as a plugin in Nuendo 3, I can't use the keyboard to rename plugins, search in the quicksearch box, etc. What's interesting is numbers, the space button, and backspace button work fine, but letters aren't recognized and control Nuendo in the background. The Nuendo option for plugins to receive key commands is enabled, and other plugins work fine (i.e. I can control a Guru drumset using the keyboard).

    Anyone else have this problem?

    Thanks!
    Paul

I have this exact same issue... I was actually going to open a thread with this issue.

It happens to me in ableton Live 6.11(the latest update for version 6). This is definitely a Kore issue.

It's an issue with most NI products and Live. NI and Ableton are looking into it...

In Sonar 7.01 there seems also to be a few issues. For example it doesn't seem to recognise r's.

Yet another reason why we need proper browsing options - I hate being so reliant on keyboard input to find anything.

I agree, the new browsing's a nightmare. Force us to get use to another way of working again.

BTW Ew do you have any idea when this issue will be fixed ?

It doesn't seem to recognise spacebar entries either in Sonar.

    Hello,

in Sonar You must click the keyboard-button in the plugin-window.

Hi, I am having this same problem.

NI, when can we expect a fix for this? It just adds to the headaches...

Solution for Ableton and NI plugs

    Hey,

Ableton give a way to fix this. You must create an Options.txt in the préférences file of Live and enter this line :

    -_EnsureKeyMessagesForPlugins

Then you can use the keyboard with the NI plugs. The only remaining problem is then you must re-select Live each time you want to use a keyboard shorcut in Live (like the spacebar for play/stop)

cannot write characters that are uses as shortcuts in Logic 8

All keys that are used in Logic as a keyboard shortcut can't be used in the kore 2 browser. For instance I can't write the letter "u" because this recalls "undo" in logic. Why isn't there a simple option "capture keyboard from host" like in kontakt?
Or must I set this option in logic? How do I do that?

OK, keyboard input works perfectly fine for me in Live, but doesn't work at all in Logic 8.0.2. Typing a letter enters the letter twice in Kore, and also activates the corresponding key command in Logic.

    ?

Seriously, this is ridiculous. Is there a fix? I can't use these 2 great pieces of software together? Nobody bothered to respond to p8guitar's complaint so many months ago, are we simply doing something wrong? I'm running the same exact setup as him with the exception of the computer: Kore 2, Kore 1 controller, Logic 8.0.2, OSX 10.5.5, Mac Pro

OK, this is BIZARRE, but I figured it out.

Having an East West Play plugin instantiated anywhere in the set causes Kore 2 to no longer be able to properly process keyboard input. I have had it on it's own track, put it inside Kore, disabled the plugin, but no variation has any positive effect, Kore cannot properly process keyboard input. A single keystroke will input the letter twice inside Kore, at the same time activating the corresponding key command in Logic. As soon as I delete the Play plugin from the set, Kore goes back to accepting keyboard input normally.

    Who's issue is this? Apple's, NI's, East West's?

I'll put this in it's own thread, too. Apparently nobody is reading this one.

    Welcome =)

See Piccolo Tigre's post about adding the options.txt. This works for both Live 7.0.3 and up and the recent bugfix for Live 6 (6.0.11).

On a XP machine, it's at:
    Documents and Settings\*your user account*\Application Data\Ableton\*your Live version*\Preferences

With a Vista machine, I can't remember the location. Search for it after you turn on show hidden files and folders.

With both, you'll have to turn on "show hidden files and folders" in Windows (in explorer's titlebar; it's under tools/folder options options/view).
