    Hello folks,

Please excuse my ignorance, I'm new to all of this. I have an M-Audio Oxygen49, I can't get it to work in Kontakt or Komplete Kontrol standalone versions nor if I run Kontakt within Kontrol. I did find one patch that some of the keys worked with but I can't find that now.

It works in my DAW (Reaper) though.

Any ideas? Should I just get an A49 or A62? Would that work it all out for me?

    Thanks

    Phi

Make sure your KB is transmitting on Midi Channel 1 or better yet set it to transmit Omni (all Channels) if you can. Check the Global channel section of the M49 manual

Post a screenshot of Preferences > Midi > Input

Ok, input prefs looks good, can you post a “Scenario”? Basically what library or preset you are loading, midi channel you are transmitting on, if you load a third party instrument into KK, does it work… that way someone can try to recreate or help troubleshoot.

Thanks everyone and merry Christmas, for some reason, it's started to work now, I don't know what I was doing or what I did to get it working.

There is an odd thing though, if I turn the MOD wheel any amount just once it's fine, if I move it again the sound stops.

Also I have to put my computer into power mode, if I have it in quiet mode it uses 100% of the CPU power, if I put it into power mode it used about 47% if I use something like the Hybrid Keys. I'm using 32gb ram and Intel Core i7 9750H @ 2.60GHz Coffee Lake 14nm Technology

I haven't worked out what the different colours mean on the keys, if you take something like "ULtraviolet" from the Kontakt Factory Selection, the orange keys don't work if I use my keyboard but they do if I use my mouse. Maybe it's just that the M-Audio isn't compatible? I'm keeping my eye out for an S49 MKII on the used market.

Also, if I load a sample and use it, then load another sample below it, I can only get the top one to work, if I then delete the top one, the one that was at the bottom, doesn't work, I have to delete it and re-load.

Also, in some sample, like the Jetskis in Hybrid Keys, I can only use it for one hit of the keys, after that no sound but I can see the virtual keys moving.

Any info about the obove would be great, thanks.

Different color keys represent different things… they can be Key Switches that change patterns or articulations and hence would not produce an actual sound without pressing one of the “Blue” Keys (note it is kind of standard that Blue keys are individual notes). All the information on the color definitions can by found in the manuals for the individual libraries… available if you click the little down arrow beneath the library image.
As for as the Power/CPU thing goes, there are many tips and tricks to optimizing your computer for use with audio applications. You can just Google “optimizing computers for audio production” and pick an article specific to your OS…an example would be…
https://musicproductionnerds.com/how-to-optimize-windows-10-for-music-production#:~:text=General Settings 1 Set your computer’s power to,Disable “Windows updates from more than one place”

Not sure about the mod wheel thing or the Hybrid keys patch issue, but will take a look when I am in the studio (currently recovering from the Christmas festivities:eek:)

    hope that helps a bit!!!

for this one, is it possible that the key hit is also triggering a Midi CC that is setting the volume of Kontakt to 0. To tell if it's happening, load up HK, and the Jetskis preset, hit a note, then look at the volume slider underneath the meters at the top right... if it is all the way to the left, then pressing the key has also triggered the Volume (CC 7) change. (also check the volume knob at the bottom right of the HK interface) If not, not sure as I could not replicate your issue.

and just to note, I am not familiar with the O49, so I am not sure assigning a CC to a Key is even possible.

Thanks for your help folks. I checked the volume slider thing and it doesn't move when I hit a key. I'm going away for a week, I'll try to do a video when I get back.

    Cheers

PS Will all of this be easier if I get an S49 MK2?
