Is there anyway to change the position of a knob by data value. I.e. can I send a knob data that will set its position (within a single structure)?

    noob I be

    Hello......

Easiest way is to use an IC send terminal. IC standing for Internal Connection. Basically an IC send can send data to various control elements in Reaktor. This is set up in the Properties window on the Tab nearest the right.

You'll need to insert an IC send terminal (This will recieve the data and will send it to the Knob). You'll then need to set the IC send as a master by clicking on the master Icon (see red box in pic) in the last tab of the properties window. You'll then need to click on the knob and set that up as slave by pressing the slave icon in the last tab of the properties window(see second red box in pic). Nothin will show up untill you have set up a master and slave correctly. When you have, you'll see the "To" and "From" text appear in the box as it is in the pic.

I'd suggest having a read up on IC sends, and Internal Connections in general in the manual. Theres a few other things that you might have to consider like setting the min and max values of the IC sends. By defauly the min and max are set to 0 and 1. You may have to change this depending on what values you want to send into it.

you CAN use the default values, just remember that for IC send with default settings, a 1 at it's input will set the controlled knob or whatever to it's max value, a 0 to it's min value, a .5 to its center value, etc. if you change the min/max of the IC to 2, a 1 at the input will send the knob to half-value, etc.

if you are working with alot of IC sends, i might suggest to you to stick with the defaults, and have your control signals be in the range of 0 to 1 as well, to keep things understandable and scalable (since you can more easily reuse this code later). same goes with mouse-areas - its often better to keep the 0 to 1 for X and Y, and scale and quantize the values after the fact, unless you are sure that the mouse-area will only be used for this one application ever.

    YYYEEESSS!!!
Nevertheless you have to think about some tricks: f.i. it is important to set a steered switch to "enable switch off" activated or not activated.

    ciao herw
