it would be great if for example "knob 3" could be used to move the start point and end point to the right in the wave-form.

when i'm cutting up for example a drum loop i often want the next slice to be the exact same length as the slice before (or atleast close to the same length). But as it is now it can be kinda hard to do that when i have to move first the start point and the the end point.

and since "knob 3" and "knob 4" is not used for anything when i'm in "edit sample" mode it would be great if one of those knobs could be used to move start and end point at the same time

i know that i could just use the slice feature and set it to "split" "16 slices" or something like that. But it would be great to also have the same feature in the "edit" window

Then why not auto chop it to a defined number based on that size you are trying to achieve and tweak them?

you can move the loop this way in the software by holding the loop's title bar
we also need it on the Maschine controller, button 3 and/or 4 would indeed be perfect as Cabbe and Aqirforce suggest
furthermore, AUTOMATION of the loop's moves woud give very creative opportunities

In the Underworld artist video on this site, Darren Price seemed to be doing something like what you're describing, on the vocal sample in his track. He turned a hardware knob, and a very short loop of the audio could be scanned through the sample. The Fairlight MFX used to do something like that.

I'm completely new to Maschine, so if the above seems naive, now you know why!

Hi Rob, you perfectly understand what i meant
But i think Darren Price uses the stretch function on his vocal sample and not the "loop move" i'm talking about.
No answer from NI, I guess the only solution for now is to assign all the loop's variations you like as individual samples to as much pads as you need. but then you won't get this "crossover effect" happening when scanning through the sample while in loop. kind of "morphing effect" in fact. tbc...

    Lets Have it!

    Hi folks,

I just search engined the very same question and I stumbled across this.

I have only had Maschine for a couple of days and whilst going through a 'chopping' tutorial I couldn't actually believe how this, I would like to say essential feature has been missed out! A glaring omission in fact :)

As said, it should be on the trim page, knob three right after start and end. Next release please NI?

    Cheers.

I would have added this to my growing list of sample improvements in my "Complete Sampling Thread" but it was locked for no apparent reason. It was just an open dialogue of what forum members wanted in a sampler...not one single negative remark.

Wasn't it just automatically closed due to the time it had been open and spent inactive? Threads do that here.

on the 'pitch/gate' page of the 'sampler' there is a 'start' knob. automate that while retriggering your sample quickly. this will give you the result you are looking for.

Ha! No, I don't think so. I doubt there's a conspiracy like that going on. Surely they would have just removed the thread or posts too if that was the case. :p

Though this probably does a similar trick, I think Installator is correct that Darren Price uses the Grain Stretch Maschine effect in that video. Always good to know different methods though.
