Does NI have grace period time for those who bought Komplete 12 in the end of June?

seems like Ive opened up a can of worms here!!!
dont get me wrong, I love Komplete/Kontakt/KompleteKontrol/Maschine etc, Id id love to donate my £169 to your perhaps ailing company- id just like my thousands of pounds of loyalty to be rewarded.
Perhaps a choose your own add ons within the upgrade price would be more welcoming, then I could avoid paying twice for Noir, Electric Sunburst, Arkhis etc etc and choose the few items I really do fancy.
But perhaps the underlying concern is that NI and Komplete are just struggling behind the competition - Id be interested to see if Guitar Rig 6 is any competition for Neural DSP products on the Guitar Sim front - or Helix- or even Bias FX -Axiom etc etc - and how many pianos do we really need, a black one , a Blue one, a red one!!!! orchestra libraries, cinematic atmospheres, Taiko !!!!!!- the market is saturated- and other brands perhaps do it better
I want NI to exist but your core product needs to progress
KONTAKT IS STILL NOT VST3 -
KOMPLETE KONTROL IS STILL NOT VST3-
MASCHINE IS STILL NOT VST 3
I believe your loyal customers can help you, and want to stay loyal through somewhat difficult times- so ask and listen!!!!

Does anyone know if I update today, will it unlock the already released instruments like Noire that are included in K13 UCE?

I will have licenses for Super 8 and a lot of the newer expansions for sale after I upgrade in mid-late October, so keep an eye on the Buy and Sell thread :)

Predictably their argument will be that you got Komplete 12 at a discounted price or something. There was probably some small print letting you know that the next update was imminent at the bottom of page 20!

Any letter means that the product is included in the marked bundle.

If it's an "n" then this product is new to any instance of Komplete. If it's an "x" then it's the last time it was included in that bundle and it won't show up in subsequent Kompletes. An "o" means it is included and has been included in previous instances as well and it has not reached its end of life. Finally, there is an "s" that marks products that have only been present in that particular bundle.

I just bought an update to Komplete 12 on Saturday, 3 days before Komplete 13 was announced. I asked customer support if I could still get Komplete 13 without paying extra. The answer was no, but they offered me a 50% discount to purchase Komplete 13/Ultimate/Ultimate Collector's Edition Updates.

Upgrading to Komplete 13 Ultimate or Ultimate CE at 50% discount on the usual upgrade pricing now in your case is a good deal indeed. Others have to wait until either Black Friday or NI Summer of Sound sale to get the 50% discount on the upgrades.

Welcome to the world of Komplete releases.

The new version of Komplete ALWAYS contains all of the products released over time. This was true with Komplete 10, 11, 12, and now 13.

If you are a Komplete owner, you always have the risk of “double buying” if you buy a product outside of the Komplete upgrade cycle.

For years now I have only purchased the Komplete products, never buying any single products.

I get your point, but don't forget they do let you sell the license to any single product you now have dupes of. They even facilitate the transfer process. You can get a decent chunk of your change back.

FYI: I bought an upgrade to to ultimate12 ,physical copy, on line for £249 and it will be upgraded to ultimate 13 for free as long as you register it in September, after that it will too late. Quite a saving if you only have komplete 12 standard.

paul doolan I'm in the same boat (bought Komplete 12 in September). All the shops seem to be advertising the grace period (register Komplete 12 in September to get a free update in October) but I haven't actually seen this confirmed by NI anywhere. And in my NI account online it's only offering paid 'pre order' updates to Komplete 13. Can anyone from NI confirm the grace period?

Yes i did noticed that but i hope that when the times comes they will honour it, i cant imagine that they would give that guarantee if they couldn't back it up.

This is quoted on most music shops in the UK if you buy any complete 12. Got mine from Andersons.

All new registrations of any version of Komplete 12 will be upgraded to the equivalent version of Komplete 13 for free upon release in October! Users must register their version of Komplete during the month of September 2020, upgrades will be supplied via Native Access.

Well, I'm late to this discussion but I still wanted to share my opinion on it... to be honest I don't think NI drives an unfair bargain here. While I do agree that it would be cool to get a discount on a purchase price based on what you already own, fact of the matter is that I don't see many companies doing this. Heck, the only time I do encounter this method is on Steam out of all places.

As for the upgrade itself.. I went from 12UC to 13UC and to be honest I'm quite happy with the upgrade, I definitely think I got my moneys worth out of this (new Maschine expansions, Arkhis and Mallet Flux have become huge favorites of mine. I also heavily enjoy Cloud Supply, Vig drums and Super-8). Even though I don't enjoy everything, GR6 leaves me with mixed feelings (only based on the new interface so far) and I'm also not sure what to make of Mysteria & Pharlight; though I am warming up a bit to the first.

And there's something I'm missing in the discussions above... Yes, if you buy Komplete you may end up getting some products twice. I experienced the same with Absynth, The Finger and The Mouth (what an odd combination :D) and now I think of it this probably also includes my upgrade to Sunburst deluxe (I'm a huge fan of this Kontakt instrument!). Here's the thing: because you got individual licenses you can probably sell those to other users and thus get some of your investment out of it. Which seems very fair to me considering that you also got a discount when upgrading Komplete.

In full honesty I can't rule out some bias on my end because I really enjoy Komplete myself, but if I compare this to, say, the new Reason shop then I pretty much see the exact same thing. Worse yet: when you upgrade Komplete you get a discount at least and if you already bought some individual products you might be able to sell those licenses. Yah... if you buy one of the official (!) synth bundles for Reason and you happen to own some instruments already then nothing will happen other than you paying the full price twice for the exact same instruments. And the shop doesn't mention any of this; no warnings, no indicators, no nothing. Sure, that doesn't mean anything when looking at NI, but I do think it's fair to say that: "Things could be a lot worse!".

I just did this and made back about $250 of my $500 total upgrade cost. Granted, I sold the individual products at a loss, so I did lose some money on them. But it also reduced the overall cost of my upgrade, so things kind of evened out.
