I keep getting an error message part way through the installation of Komplete 5 and Komplete 6 on Snow Leopard. The DVDs are fine - they both installed fine on my Windows 7 machine.

I have attempted to install several times but it always gives me an error message part way through the installation of the Battery library.

Has anyone had this problem and found a way to resolve it?

I don't recall the exact wording (it's been a couple weeks now) but I believe it said the installation quit. It was the same for Komplete 5 and Komplete 6 in that it quit part way through installing the Battery library.

In order to get the exact error wording I'd have to go through the installation again (which, if it will help I'm willing to try).

I've been waiting to resolve this for a while now so any help you can give me would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks

I have this problem also. When I get to disc 3 of the Komplete 6 install I get the message:

"The installation failed - The installer encountered an error that caused the installation to fail. Contact the software manufacturer for assistance."

Well, that is what I am doing...heh...I tried it twice. Then I just tried to install the packages on the disc. "Battery 3 Library Part2.pkg" installed fine. but "Battery 3 Library Part3.pkg" is the one that appears to fail.

    What to do?

Yeah, what you describe is the exact same problem I've been having. I sent in a support request and they got back to me asking about faulty discs - I told them that the problem isn't the discs because Komplete 5 and 6 installed fine on a W7 machine - just won't work on my snow leopard machine.

They asked what version of OS I was using...definitely already provided that...but anyway, when I told them I was using 10.6 the reply was something like, "it should work with any version later than 10.5".

Yeah, I believe you that it should, but it doesn't, and that's why I sent in the support request....not particularly helpful.

One workaround that I have found is that I could copy the library folder from my W7 machine and paste it into the snow leopard machine. I still only have partial labraries for some reason but at least Battery and Kontakt, etc. have some sounds I can use.

Let me know if you get any help.

Well, funny you should ask...today, I tried copying the offending file to my local hard drive and ran the installer from there...it worked. I've been installing the rest of K6 painfully clicking on each installer on each disc and so far so good. At least I can do other work while installing each package one at a time. So my conclusion is it is a bad dvd, but the file is intact. Maybe its just a mac thing since you were able to install on windows. I haven't finished installing and hopefully there isn't some magic done by using the 'master' install that I won't have it all there at the end....

I was thinking of making a copy of the dvd and trying that but I just hate spending time screwing around with this kind of stuff...

I am running into the same issue, my install fails every time at Battery disc 2. I thought it was because there was a previous Komplete 6 install on the machine that I uninstalled, but it sounds like you guys are having the issue on your first install.

I would love a fix for this. I hate having a $500 piece of software sitting on my desk, and not being able to play with it.

Hey Zenbass, I haven't tried clicking on each installer individually...if I insert the library DVDs (everyone but the first DVD, I believe) can I just open up a menu of the files on the DVD and see the installers? Sounds like a royal pain, but if it works, it'll be better than nothing.

If you happen to read this and feel like replying, thanks!

I have dug into this a bit more in my case, and this appears to have to do with some kind of corruption when accessing one of the data bundles that are part of the library packages. I'm not sure if it's the physical media that is damaged, or if it's a file corruption issue. However, I tried creating an image of the disc using Toast, and turned on disc repair mode. When it hit about 60% it threw an error that said that it was unable to read one of the gzipped data files that make up the installer package.

So basically, even if you were to run the individual installers, at some point that installer would fail due to it's inability to read this file off the disc.

The only option in my case was to find a working version of the failing disc. I borrowed a buddies physical disc and used that and everything went through fine.

I am ordering replacement discs from NI so that I have a working set in case of reinstall. However, I'm worried that the new set will have the same problem as the original set, since others have reported that their replacements have failed in their case.

IMO this is a serious oversight on NI's side. These sort of manufacturing defects should be tested against, and a stricter QC process should be in place. When I spend $500+ dollars on a piece of professional equipment, I expect to be able to go home and use it, not have to wait a week for a replacement. Judging by the number of posts I have seen about this in the forums and other places on the Web, this is a wide spread issue.

That's enough rant out of me.

Short answer is yes. So what I ended up doing and it sounds like voodoo but I think it worked, is doing just that. But for me, I had to copy that battery file to a hard drive first and run it from there. Then I just inserted each DVD one at a time and clicked on each installer. When I had everything installed, I reran the main installer disk but did a custom install and unchecked the option to install the libraries, just to make sure everything else installed ok. It was a pain but as I said, it seems to work and I hope that make sense.

If I were you I would try copying the Battery library dvds to a hard drive to run the installation files for Battery from there like I did. Then I would just run a full custom install, but with only the Battery Library unchecked. It should work and save you the pain of doing all the installs for Kontakt one at a time. Good luck. The guys who just have bad dvds are just screwed without replacements.

I sympathize with NI in that they just send this stuff out to get manufactured and if the manufacturer screws up, they have to deal with it. Apparently they will send replacement disk(s) if needed though, I haven't asked for one yet. It might be nice if they offered a download link for an iso in the cases where the user has decent connectivity and doesn't want to wait. But that probably opens up a whole other can of tech support worms for them....

    Hello,

sorry to hear about the problems you encountered with the Komplete 6 installation. I found recent support tickets for you except for zenbass. I would indeed try a replacement set first, even if the installation worked well on PC.

If you encpunter such an installer error the next time, please press command + L to open the installer log. Copy the log and put this into your support request. This enables us to have a closer look.

You might also want to check the permissions of folders used by Native Instruments installations, most important this folder:

    Library/Application Support/Native Instruments

Battery copies a file named bconvert to this folder. However, this would not explain that you can install from hard disk, but it might be worth to have a look though.

    Best regards,

I would also try an external DVD drive. I ran into similar problems when installing logic and Komplete.

I used an external drive and it installed fine. Just a thought.
