I'm currently running Kontakt 3.5 and Battery 3 on Windows 7 RC 64 bit. I've just purchased the Kontakt to Komplete 6 upgrade on-line and on October 22nd will need to do a clean install again when I receive my release copy of Windows 7.

I won't be installing Komplete 6 until Oct 22 when W7 is up and running and I have Cubase 5.1 installed... Do I need to reinstall Kontakt 3.5 in order for the upgrade to work, or do I simply just install Komplete 6 with no other NI software istalled (Which I what I would prefer).

My other question is re Battery 3.5, as I will now have two copies, I undersatand I can sell my original by asking NI to delete the serial number from my account but I am concerned that the new Battery 3 version in Komplete then might not work?

Great work NI, very excited about Komplete, fantastic value!

    Good question!

I am about to do exactly the same - install Windows 7 64 Bit once it arrives.

    A fresh install.

I have Komplete 5 but will be installing Komplete 6 at the time.

Will I need to deactivate everything in the NI Service Center, or can I just reinstall and it'll all be fine?

Good to know someone else shares this question!
As there's been no formal response to my question so far, I've just sent it directly to the sales support team. If and when I get an answer I'll post it here to let you know.
    All the best.

I have a somewhat similar question - I currently have Komplete 5 and just purchased the upgrade to Komplete 6. Can I keep the current instruments included in Komplete 5, or should I do a fresh install of everything and remove Komplete 5? I may want to hang on to Kontakt 3 for a while, eg for ongoing projects or eg to be able to continue to use the Sibelius soundset which was developed for the library included in Kontakt 3.

So if someone could follow up on this by posting in this thread, I'd be appreciative.

Well I'm very pleased as komplete 6 upgrade package arrived by courier this lunchtime. I just can't wait.... so am installing it right now. But first I decided to uninstall (using Windows Control Panel) Kontakt 3.5 and battery 3.* (beta), including their libraries. (Although from what I gather from the Knowledge base, you don't HAVE to do this). I have also uninstalled NI Control Panel too! The only NI stuff I have remaining on my machine is Kore 2 Free Player and the Free compliation stuff for that. I'll update this thread as the installation and activation progress and let anyone know how it goes....

Installation took (I guess as I wasn't timing it) about 4 hours plus. (You can select the Library directory on another HD at the start of the install). It went totally without a hitch. Activation (despite uninstalling NI service centre) took about 10 seconds or less! I coudn't believe it was so fast and TOTALLY free of any problems.

There was some updates to battery 3 (artist kits etc) which took awhile, but these were all installed without hassle.

The stand alone version I can't get any sound from as they appear to only enable WASAPI sound driver (I think this is the W7 driver) and not ASIO and the bit rate seems stuck on 48Khz! But I don't care as I use it as a VST plug-in. (But this would be of concern to a live player who requires stand-alone operation!)

In Cubase 5.1 (32 bit) everything works just fine!

The choir samples in Kontakt 4 from what little I've played with already are really something else! Very, very usable I'm pleased to say.

Everything works as expected and I'm so excited by what I've heard so far.... fantastic job NI. The financial investment is NOTHING compared to the increase in creative sonic possibilities available.

FANTASTIC product. More on this later in other threads.

Postscript: Several hours later -- The Stand Alone versions DO work, I hadn't set up the ins and outs thats all. But still no ASIO driver availablity and no 44.1! Although I haven't tested much there's lots of crackles and pops (disc overload lights up) running as vst in Cubase 5.1. 32 bit. (But I am changing presets on the fly, but still don't expect this). More tests to follow...
