    Hi all,

I have ordered both Komplete 6 and Snow Leopard to upgrade my current setup from Komplete 2 and Tiger.

Any suggestions or advice on best way to upgrade:

Should I install komplete 6 first and then snow leopard? - or vice versa?

I know that after Oct 1 NI no longer supports Tiger so i'm assuming that since Komplete 6 isnt officially out till Oct 1 this means that it may not work on Tiger - will it even install?

    Cheers.

I'd install Komplete 6 first myself. And, I'm not sure about the K6 installer itself, but the new apps won't run on Tiger.

Just tried K6 installer on Tiger - wont run. I'll have to wait until I get snow leopard installed - anyone tried installing K6 to snow leopard?

I installed K6 to snow leopard yesterday and Live & Logic both lock up during AU Scanning for the new audio units.

My configuration was installed in this order over time:

    1) 10.5.x
    2) K5
    3) 10.6 Upgrade
    4) K6

I was fine @ step 3, was able to load the AU/VSTs in Live and Logic, but after K6 now it locks up. I'm not pointing any fingers as I run in 64bit kernel mode by default -- so who knows. But, K5 didn't have any problems. Caveat Installer.

Thansk for the reply loadammo - even though its not what I wanted to hear as I will be using it in logic also. I hope to have my copy of SL in the next couple of days and will keep updating this thread as I try to install. My case is slightly different from you in that I am taking bigger leaps if you like in that I never upgraded to leopard so I'm going straight from Tiger to SL (and also from K2>K6). Mind you I doubt this will make any difference to the end result. i suspect I will have the same issues as you.

Anyone else out there got any comments on this - and are there any mods who can help? Thanks everyone.

I've just installed SL & then K6. I didnt install Kontakts library yet as I haven't enough room so I'll have to pick and choose which parts of the library I want most.

I only briefly played with each instrument in Logic 8 (except GR4 - didn't open this at all) and they all seemed fine on first go - which was a pleasant surprise. If I find any issues I'll be back to this thread to post.

    PS - Massive is excellent!

I guess my advice to you is to not install snow leopard if you want to use Komplete 6.

The software box rates the software for OS X 10.5 or higher (pretty much specifying it is only guaranteed to run on 10.5). NI has been very dodgy on the subject, and most testimonials I've heard for the compatibility have been user to user, I don't recall seeing anything official.

I myself just picked up my Komplete 6 upgrade from the order I made with Guitar Center today. It's an upgrade from Komplete 4. I'm running OS X 10.6.1 on a Macbook Pro 2.16 Ghz Intel Core Duo with 2 GB DDR2.

The installation went great, and i'm glad NI has now included support in the installer to specify a location for the sample libraries, it makes it much easier to keep them on an external drive. The authorization seemed to go without a hitch, although we'll discuss that later. I haven't opened any in a DAW yet, I'm kind of busy and will most likely deal with this next week, but from running each software individually as standalone,

Absynth 5 simply refuses to run. It crashes every single time.
Battery runs completely fine (I haven't installed the update yet)
    FM8 runs completely fine
Guitar Rig 4 crashes (quite humorously) exactly every other time it is run
Kontakt 4 runs completely fine (I haven't installed the update yet)
Massive simply refuses to activate. It might as well crash every single time so as to not tease me.
    Reaktor runs completely fine.

For all I know these will open fine instantiated as a plugin, but I'll find out this weekend. More than likely I will revert to 10.5 just for sanity's sake. It's kind of a bummer that this isn't working out, but I completely understand as 10.6 is not officially supported on the packaging. When I go back to 10.5, if there are still issues, thats when I have an issue. For all I know these issues in 10.6 may not even be a result of NI's software....I mean who knows what Digi might've done to the playing field....

This is just my experience, and from what I can tell others have had different experiences already, so we'll see what happens.

In the meantime, if anyone knows of any official NI announcements about snow leopard, please email or pm the link to me so I can check it out. I'm sure they're working on full compatibility, but you all know our mass mentality, we'll just go absolutely bonkers if it's not done instantly.

    Hi Mike,

    here's the current compatibility info:

    http://www.native-instruments.com/en/support/compatibility/mac-os-x-compatibility/

The crashes you mention are definitely not common. All Komplete 6 products run fine on Snow Leopard accoring to our - preliminary - tests. There may be Snow Leopard specific bugs, but no frequent crashes.

Please contact our support to help us investigating the issue. If there are crashlogs, please attach them.

    Thanks,

    Henning

Wow, thanks for the quick response!

An apology is definitely in order here, It appears Native Instruments was not the cause of any of the problems i was having, and all programs in Komplete are now running perfectly for me - This bundle adds some great functionality, and I'm very grateful for NI for pricing it so affordable.

I guess the advice i would have for others that may be having issues (if you haven't already contacted support), is to be wary of the Tools update for snow leopard. It appears that the Digi Core Audio Manager was causing my issues.

I am trying to install Komplete 6 on Snow Leopard and did not have a successful first go at it. I upgraded from Kontakt 3.5 and the multiple service centers now plastered in my applications folder (which cannot be moved or the programs do not find them) are not able to see any of my new programs other than FM8 and Massive. Go figure. I guess I am going to have to delete the whole friggin kitten kaboodle and reinstall.

The install instructions say that the service center is in the NI folder, but when I put it there, the programs did not find it. Also, while I know that the data was installed on my comp (install took several hours), the programs are not able to find it.

    ?

It doesn't matter whether or not the programs can find the Service Center links. Trash all your Service Centers including the folders they're in. Now, download the latest SC version and run that. Done.

    did that. Not done. :)

I am still struggling with this, weeks later. I also, strangely, did not get a prompt during any of my multiple installs to ask me where to store the audio data files.

I have repaired permissions and deleted all the service centers I can find. It seems that different N-I programs named it differently, or put it into differently named folders, such as NI service center, service center, or inside the NI folder in a sub-folder called service center. I have found all of the ones I can see and have deleted them.

then I try to start up the Newly downloaded service center and it just finds everything old and nothing new, and when I try to start the programs themselves, they send me to, of all places, the service center which has no record of my new installs.

Am open to advice since I am worse off now than I was with working versions of Kontakt, reaktor and battery, all of which I bought new, but thought I would buy Komplete to make it "easier" to upgrade later. :)

I have deleted all my NI products, and I think the problem was that my Kontakt media had been moved to "media drive' and not installed there. I believe the system must have copied the files but perhaps this is not the right way to do it. It turns out that I could not delete any Kontakt folders on the new drive, perhaps due to Korruption.

I also found a couple update folders in the media section and perhaps these strays were clogging the system.

Too bad people can't just be honest and make all this nonsense with the protection a moot point. I feel it is my right to move my files around, and even keep them in a messy state, but I guess the NI team has other more strict ideas in mind for me.

I am trying the reinstall right now with Komplete 6 first. Then I will have to reinstall my sound packages, but hopefully it will not be as bad as the old days when I had to do crap like this once a month. You youngsters don't remember the early days of challenge-response, limited install madness.

Still a complete failure, even after deleting all my old NI products and cleaning out the old prefs and service centers.

It finds all the old products that are no longer on the computer, but does not see good old Komplete 6.

I guess its time for NI support ticket number 6....

Its funny that i was just telling someone how I used to have all kinds of problems with NI but they seemed to have fixed it and I actually have not had a single install problem for over 2 years.

But I am starting to remember how much trouble new installs can be, reminded by this experience.

update: I have removed all the service centers and programs from my computer but the ones I want to install with Komplete 6.

It tells me when I start any ole program that service center is not installed, so I reinstall it. It cannot find the programs. Rinse and repeat.

since I have never seen Komplete 6 show up in the service center, does it ever ask for the Komplete 6 serial number? or do I put the komplete 6 serial number in for all the programs included?

Anyone can answer, since the mods seem to be going mute on this problem at the moment.

I tried dumping all my caches and all my preferences, but still the same issue.

So, after a dreadful rebuild of the OS, I now have a computer that is "fixed". Funny that the so called "Korrupt preferences" did not in any way affect my computers performance, other than loading Komplete, so I am not convinced that Komplete is a good program to install on my computer when you already have several NI programs installed, unless you are ready to deal with a lot of OS rebuilding.

The preferences were completely thrown out, so they could not have been korrupt.

I guess it was the "secret" preferences that needed to be remade.

Please, NI fix this obvious glitch in your otherwise nice product line.
