I've been installing Komplete 7, and have reached Kontakt 4: Disc C with the: FATAL ERROR: Invalid file handle, and then again on Kontakt 4: Disc D. I'm currently on Disc E, and am wondering if I'll be getting more.
Has anyone encountered this? It is interesting that these discs are doing this, and it isn't just one disc.

Hey, I've the problems. I think it's an SaveDisc problem. If youa are ignore the errors, all programms will be installed correct. Only the content ist copyprotected. So I change the DVD drive with a new one and it works now fine.

Interesting! Thanks s:e:c. That would make sense. It is interesting that by switching DVD drives, it would fix the issue. I do have an older non-SATA DVD Drive, so that could be the case. It did install as you said. Having never used Native Instruments before, it would probably take me a very long time to find out which instrument/sample was not functioning correctly because of those files that were skipped.

you can restart the installer - after you have change the DVD drive - again and you can choose the content to add!

Good luck! At the moment - it's a theory of me - what the problem cause?

    Hello,

    sorry, please forget about SaveDisc.

It appears that the disc was not readable by the disc drive which you first used. (probably a read error). It was readable by the second drive obviously, so you could successfully install.

Trying another disc drive (or retrying with the same drive again if no second drive is available) is recommended in case of read-error problems.

Stephan, thanks for following up. I will be upgrading my DVD Drive soon within the future, and I suspect there won't be anymore issues.

    Thanks!

    Why and removal

    Some technique discussions later!

A friend of me have the same problem in another place not with an installation of KOMPLETE. Its hardware analysis resulted in that - there is a problem with new DVDs, which are for the current faster drive assemblies. Older drive assemblies do not create it into contents time near to make available. This is not a problem when normal copying. It is however a problem with the Installer and very large archives.

SOLUTION: Copy all (including the hidden!) files on a new partition or an external drive assembly. And run the installer from there.

Yes, I am encountering the same problem and now trying to re-install Kontact 4 where the problem shows up... after you bypass these fatal error messages and complete the installation the Kontact 4 product won't fire up. I have a very current DVD drive in my computer and have not used it excessively at all. I'm not buying a new disc drive... forget that.

I have the same exact issue and a brand new DVD drive.

Looks like a bad batch of DVDs went out.

NI can we get an answer on this?

Is it just a specific file that was corrupt when this went to production?
    ---
It just happened again on the next disk.

I just built my computer 2 months ago with a brand new DVD drive.

Do I have user rights to install the downloadable version of the software as well as my DVDS? Can we make that happen?

    Kim and Carter,

It is good (well not necessarily), but interesting to know that you have the same issue, but with a new DVD drive. I have held off on buying one.

Carter, when I installed it, there were two corrupt files on both of those discs that I mentioned on my first post. I need to do a clean install of my entire computer due to a hard drive failing, but I'm afraid I'll get more errors if I need to reinstall Komplete 7 again. At least it is currently working at the moment even though a few files were skipped.
However, it sounds like Kontakt doesn't even run for Kim.

It does sound more like it is a bad batch of DVDs.

    Bumping Carter's question:

    Grumble.

I have had 2 errors thus far one on C one on D

I paused to stop and look at the files. Looked like Wav files, so hopefully im just missing a few samples, which i can live with.

Hi fellow new NI users... I have an update... it is only as a standalone application that Player and 4 do not work... I have later found that 4 comes open nicely in Sonar as a soft synth so I am less anxious now:D that I have been able to get sounds and play the sounds... can you imagine how it feels to pay $600 and hear nothing at all! By the way, I noticed some haze on the disks:eek: and wondering if someone sneezing in shipping had hay fever the day they packed mine, I washed the discs and got less of the original popup error code but got some new ones. :S

With such an amazingly large noumber of files to manage with this program it is almost as if there needs to be a utility upon completion of installation to audit files successfully installed in HD memory and upon discovering a missing sample, know which disc it is on and attempt a second time to get it to write to the HD... failiing that, have a an easy file identificaiton system and help desk method to automatically send you the one file you have missed.

It would be great if we could get an overnight shipment of a good installer set sent out right away. What do you say NI?

Did you have to put in a separate support request before hearing from NI? Or did you get a reply because you posted to this thread?

I have kept at it and have everything working apparently okay (both stand alone and hosted by Sonar)... although I must wonder what the uninstalled files will cause to occur in certain circumstances... it is fair to say that I have no idea if it tries to load a full set of samples for a given sound and was is not present whether it will even report this.

I have purchased Alicia Keys and find it well worth the money! It installed without any pop up error messages.

I am presently waiting for my e-voucher so I can proceed with Session Strings.

    Hello,

if an installer DVD would not be readable by the DVD drive in your Mac and thus cause an error during the installation, the following may help to bypass this problem:

    1. possibility: use another DVD drive for installation (external DVD drive etc.)

    2. possibility:

You should be able to get your product installed by first making a disk image of the problematic disk(s) on your hard drive and then installing as usual from disk #1.

To create an image of the DVD, insert the disk that gave you problems during the initial install.

Then run the Disk Utility on your Mac (under Applications>Utilities).

On the left-hand side of the Disk Utility screen, you'll see the disk drives on your computer.

Click on the name of the DVD that you've loaded, for example 'Kontakt 4 Disk A' or whichever.

Then click the 'New Image' button at the top of the Disk Utility window. This will create an image of the disk on your desktop. (This will take a few minutes.)

Once you have finished making an image of the disk(s) that you had problems with the first time, put disk #1 from the original set into the computer and run the main installer again from the beginning.

When it asks you for the disk that didn't work before, instead of inserting the physical disk again just double-click the appropriate .dmg file on your desktop and it should mount as a readable disk and be recognized by the installer.

Note: In a scenario where a DVD would not mount at all (i.e., if it would not show up in the Finder after inserting) the above procedure cannot help obviously.
