    More Komplete 7 installation problems...

Yep.. I have just got the Komplete 7 upgrade and tried installing it twice and had the installation fail due to fatal errors - the first time on Kontakt disc E and the second time on Battery disc B.

I'm running my music software on a dedicated high-spec PC that is just over 12 months old. I don't think I should have to upgrade to a new/ better/ external DVD drive (as some forum members have suggested) to get around this problem - I think if I spend nearly €200 on an upgrade on top of the thousands of euros I have previously spent on NI products over the years, I should reasonably expect that the software should instal faultlessly first time from the DVDs it is shipped on. I certainly don't think I should have to spend (as I already have) over 16 hours elapsed time feeding DVDs into the PC and then have the whole thing just fall over. Nor should I have to go through the process of copying DVDs onto a hard drive and then installing from there.

I have yet to see any message from the NI team about what the source of this problem is or what the solution is - perhaps I have missed the relevant post?

    Captain Jacket & izaonline:

This is what I did. None of the previous solutions in this topic would work. I went to the Native-Instruments website, went to the Support section and when the pop-down menu appeared I went to Product Support.
From there I went to Technical Support and filled in the form with all the relevant information.
Native-Instruments staff got back with me very quickly, shipped me out a new set of DVD's, and I returned mine so their support team could diagnose this error.
The Native-Instruments team is great! If that happens, and they order you new DVD's, I would suggest that you trade DVD's from the new jewel case to your old(keep the same jewel case since your serial number is stuck to it), and then reply to their e-mail and ask if they'd like your defective disks back. This will help them with these issues that we have experienced.

Native-Instruments has been a very great company to work with! My new DVD's are working great, and I hope my old DVD's that I returned have served the support team's diagnostics well. =)

    NI Service

Very glad to hear you've been sorted out by the folks at NI. I already sent an online support request to them detailing what had happened with my installation and as yet have had no reply at all (2 days and counting) apart from an auto reply saying a new support ticket has been opened for me. We'll see what happens next week. My point really though is that these errors shouldn't happen in the first place really for a major consumer products company on something as basic as a software upgrade, especially when we've spent nearly €200 on it.

Hopefully you'll get a reply soon. I agree with you. Though, I guess when that amount of DVDs are being mass produced, there is always possibility that some come out bad. Bad DVD's? Other outside factors? Who knows? Hope everything gets solved for you soon.

    Hi!

I am currently installing Komplete 7 and so far on disc A-E or possibly disc B-E, I have had at least 11 "invalid file handle" messages. It could be one or two more, I forgot to take screenshot of. Now waiting for the installation to finish to be able to register and send NI tech support a message.

For what it's worth: My 64bit Windows 7 PC is 4 months old, with a DVD unit not used very much.

Same here... Windows XP (Service Pack 3), Core 2 6400@2.13GHz, Asus P5K. Upgraded to Komplete 7 from Komplete 6, Invalid file handle messages plus 2-3 fatal errors. Will also not unpack some items ofKontakt's sample library. System restore was a bad idea, everything got messed up. Formated primary disk, same procedure, same problems. What makes things even stranger, I upgraded Komplete on my laptop (Windows 7 , core duo) as well. No problems there...
Called NI Berlin, suggested I uninstall Komplete 6 and install 7 straight. Same problems. Very pissed... especially since installation takes forever. Will try a differnent DVD drive but I'm not very optimistic...
Will let you know what happens next.

My solution was to install all the upgrades and then I looked at all my screenshots which had the troublesome file name listed. Then checked that all those files (wav:s) were good.

Problem solved for me as well!

    PS to Native Instruments:
Best of all were if the installer or separate utility could checksum all files to verify all bits are ok.

Not only can I not install the Komplete 7 update, (I get an error on disc B. Creating a disc image only copies the error, doesn't work), and when I try to contact NI's tech support, their website stopped recognizing my username and password. They have no phone number to call. This is my only means of communication. At this point I've spent over 8 hours trying to install the upgrade of which none of the new instruments were on the installation disc. It looks like I'm out $300 and a bunch of time. NI, what you're prepared to do to rectify this mess?
