I have tried to install a Komplete 7 update over an existing Komplete 6 now, and twice did I get the following error message:
    "The installation failed.
The installer encountered an error that caused the installation to fail. Contact the software manufacturer for assistance."

The first time this happened with Kontakt disc E, the second time already with Battery 3 disc B.
Also, some discs took very long to install (over 2 hours).

What can be done to solve this ? Please help!

    Specifications:
2 x 3 GHz Quad Core Intel Xion
    8 GB Ram
    Mac OS X 10.6.4
The disc I install the libraries on has over 180GB free space

This happened to me with Komplete 6. The solution was to copy all DVD's to a directory on a hard drive and then start the installation from there.

That is the only solution I could think of also. I started to create the disc images, but it is taking a lot of time...

    Re: Installation Failed

I had the same error message after I finished installing the last battery disk, I just put in each kontakt disk and click on each program there were 3-4 on each disk and completed the full install manually. There was no way I was gonna start over at 3 hrs of installing. I know one thing, that was the longest installation I have ever did.

There is no way I would make a disc image with all of these disks, I am not sure if it works for Windows, but for Apple I was able to click on each application for example New york piano, and son on just put the disk in and browse each disk and see if you can install each instrument that way, it worked for me, took over 8 hrs for the full install and I verified a little over 90 gbs. Hope that helps.

Wanted me in the club to announce. Since KOMPLETE 6 I have the same problems as it. I have 3 computers with Win XP pro and only on one run off the installation correctly. Now I ordered myself a new DVD drive assembly, because it hangs hardware in my opinion with the copy protection together?

Harm at many the time, which is lost to me through the HickHack.

Hoping for solution and improvement… Sascha

Well, my first install didn't go well. It hung on the fourth disc, so I used Task Manager to shut down the install. Then I copied all the DVD's to a directory on one of my hard drives and installed from there. Seemed to go through no problem. Then I discovered that 4 of the main VSTi's were missing - including Kontakt 4 which I had already installed a year ago with Komplete 6. Weird - the VST's had been wiped off my drive. There weren't even directories for them in Program Files/Native Instruments. So I re-ran the install, selected "Modify", and installed all of the applications (no libraries) again. That time it worked.

It is quite unruly with all of these DVD's though.

Mine hung up on the next-to-last DVD with same error message as in the original post. All I did was open that DVD and install each of the individual folders. Worked like a champ. Much easier (and faster) than either starting over or copying the DVDs to a hard drive.

Copying all DVD's to a directory on a hard drive and then start the installation from there worked out for me, although the copying process took more than a day.
I had to redo 2 discs but eventually I got them all on a hard disk and installed from there.
NI should start thinking about supplying a big product like Kontakt on hard disks.

Also NI should add better documentation especially for people who upgrade what they need to install and what not. In this case I found out afterwards that I could have omitted the factory library of Kontakt and Battery. There was no word about this in the documentation that came with the product.

Not to be contrary but it did work for me for installing sample libraries on OS 10.6.4 and was about 100 times faster than a complete reinstall. I just compared my Kontakt sample folders to what was on the DVDs and installed only what was missing (in my case, a few pianos).

I tried to do a reinstall thinking Komplete 7 would figure out which samples had already been installed but after running the first DVD it seemed clear the installer didn't have this feature. So my choices were spending another 8 hours installing the entire thing, or 15 minutes copying the needed folders directly from the DVD.

Add me to the list of folks having trouble installing Komplete 7.

My install of Komplete 7 failed twice in one day and I have been waiting for my ticket to come around with a solution. Maybe Monday? What a waste of time! I think I'm about to try your method Martin.

Also, there seems to be no information pertaining to files associated with existing versions. Will the software ask me what I want to do with all my Core Player files? Should I erase my existing Battery 3 app? Can I move my old samples and other data to the new drive I have bought just for Komplete? Too little information.

The Komplete 7 package is a very exciting product and I am itching to get at it.

Anyone know how to install this on a WinXP machine? I can't do it directly from each disk or maybe I can but don't have the right program to do it. Any help would be great...I tried NI and their attitude is that it must be the disc drive or the discs. Actually it logically cannot be either because I have made it to Kontakt 4: Disc D and it fails at different times.

There has to be a way to extract the files from the disc in Windows! NI refuses to help but what is the worst case scenario of trying? It doesn't work? That is still better than another 10hr failed attempt at installation.
