Hello, I just received my copy of Komplete 7 & am attempting to install. Each time i'm getting an installation failed message. It appears that the installer can't locate the required files & then stops. Any idea what could be causing this?

I'm running 10.6.7 on an Intel Mac Pro.

    Thanks,

    Dor

The only way I was able to get around the problem was to rip all of the dvd's to .dmg files using disk utility on another computer. Wouldn't be possible if I didn't have ample drive space available for the 80+ GB of images. It took the better part of a day to get this done, but afterwards the install was flawless. Seems like certain dvd drives don't like the format of the factory Komplete discs. Not good.

    Good luck!

I am having the same problem, It is really disappointing considering how expensive the product is and how long I have thought about getting it for. After about the Disc B or C it just stops and tells me that "there is no software to install"...

I just sent in my concerns, hopefully they get back to me soon.

    Same problem os

I managed to get a full komplete install on my new macbook pro, 10.6.7. then the mac book pro died. Took it to an apple store and they copied the dud to a new machine.
I see all the libraries and instruments, but activation in the service centre is failing.
I hope its not a 10.6.7 thing as this os wasn't offered on the tech support formI filled out.

Komplete 7 Installation Failed on OSX 10.6.7

I have had the same problem with the Komplete 7 installer. When I insert Kontakt 4 Disc B, it informs me that no software can be found. I spent several hours last night making disk images, as was suggested in a previous post by one of the NI moderators. The same thing happened when I got to Kontakt 4 Disc B, although it was mercifully much quicker to get to that point with the disk images. I'm not sure if there is a fix for this, or if it's just a bad DVD, although I was able to make a complete image of that disk. Everybody's time is valuable, so it is frustrating and disappointing to spend this much time with an installation. I'll probably bring the Komplete 7 package back to my retailer and ask for a replacement, but don't want to run into a similar situation again.
I think that Native Instruments have put together an inspiring and beautifully crafted set of software titles in Komplete 7, but hope that there is not a quality control issue with the disks themselves. I have had no other issues with other disks. I'm running an intel iMac Model 8,1 with a 3.06 GHz Dual Core and 4 GB of ram. I will submit a ticket with NI as well.

If anyone has any suggestions, or comments, that would be appreciated.

    Thanks..

    Doug

I also am running 10.6.7 on a brand new 15' Intel Mac Pro and am considering buying Komplete, but I've been told not to install it on a laptop because it's too large.

For those of you that have successfully installed Komplete, have you experienced any problems running it on your laptop? Any crashing, freezing, etc?

Essentially, I'm wondering if it's feasible to run Komplete and Logic at the same time on a 2.53 GHz i5 MBPro with 4GB Ram, or if I'd just be wasting my money.

Add me to the list. I too just received K7 and it fails on Kontakt 4 Disc B.

"The installation failed. The installer could not install the software because there was no software found to install". I am able to open the DVD and see the install packages, so there is definitely data. It seems to fail on Orchestral Samples Part 5.pkg
When I run it manually it comes back with "The operation couldnt be completed. (com.apple.installer.pagecontroller error -1.) Couldn't open Kontakt 4 Library Orchestral Samples Part 5.pkg

Sounds like a bad batch of discs went out recently... :( sucks for us.

For the record, I am attempting to install this on an iMac 1TB 4gig Intel 10.6.7

Boomspot, when you made the .dmg files, what image format did you use? Compressed, read/write or DVD/CD master?

Confirmation of Bad Disks from Retailer

I submitted a ticket to NI support and received a reply asking me to test the disks in question with a script that runs in Terminal on OSX on my Mac. That script did indeed report a bad disk (Kontakt Install Disk B). I tested every other disk in the installation package, and every other disk was fine. I went to my retailer here in Toronto, and although they had several Komplete 7 packages, they asked me if I could wait for a new shipment due to a bad batch in the current inventory, and other reports from customers here. This seems to confirm the problem, along with the other users here reporting the same problem. To NI's credit they offered to send me a replacement disk immediately, and they were helpful in confirming the problem. This kind of thing can happen, and by this time NI must be aware of the problem, so hopefully will exercise tighter quality control, if possible. Unfortunately, it's taken a reasonable chunk of our time dealing with this. Having made disk images of the entire package already, it should be quicker to install once I receive the new package. It would be nice if NI would offer one of the libraries not included in the current Komplete 7 package to customers with confirmed bad disks, as an acknowledgement of the time spent already. It would be a nice way to say "sorry about that" and leave the customer feeling appreciated. Who knows, maybe they are already considering something, but if not.. a suggestion for NI customer service.

On another issue, I think running the Komplete 7 suite would be fine on a MacBook Pro, as long as you have ample disk space. It's quite inexpensive and easy these days to replace the internal drive with a 2.5 inch version (up to 750GB @7200RPM), or an external drive with the libraries on it. I have a MacBook Pro 13" 2.26Ghz system with a 500GB internal drive & 4GB ram, running DP7, and several other plugins with large libraries running without incident.

Good luck to everyone, and I hope this was helpful..

Also having the same exact problem!
Very frustrating. Just got the Komplete 7 package in the mail today and I have tried installing several times but it has failed on the same disc each time: Kontact 4 Disc B.

    new image

I received instructions from NI to create a new image of the disk... I went through the whole process again and the dmg file failed even though it was mounted to my desktop.

This is extremely frustrating and time consuming, hopefully this gets solved immediately!

    Disk Failure

When you create a disk image, it replicated everything on that disk including the problems. It will still mount on the desktop, and when you cue it to be read by the installer will report the same error. It happened with my installation as well. It most likely is a bad DVD sector (Mine was on Kontakt 4 Disk B -- along with several other users). If you set up a ticket they will probably send you the 'Disk Check' Unix Executable file to determine the problem with the disk. They will send you out a replacement disk if the program determines it to be a bad disk (Probable). If you read the preceding posts there is more information.

I know it's frustrating.. Hope this info helps..

If I got halfway through an install, should I just start the install over when i get a working disc? I called the company I ordered komplete from and they are sending me a working disc

I have the exact problem here with Kontakt 4 B disk. They sent me a reply and ask for the installer log but with weird instructions that I don't understand for the terminal or something like that. Still waiting for a reply on this.

Anyway, I might have found a temporary workaround. I did install only the app without the library and acivated the software, then I manually install the library disk one by one and skip the second and third folders of the B disk. So far it seems to work and I'll miss only a small part of the library for now.

Another Installation Problem with Komplete 7

    Hi all,

I bought Komplete 7 (runnning Win7 64bit) and came here sort of pi**ed off, because of my install probs. Now I see that my problems are probably minor:

I started the installation yesterday at 23:30, despite a fast PC and SSD, it was 1:30 when I left the comp with Kore Disk H (I think) and went to sleep. My naive thought was that I will encounter an alert box to input the next DVD when I come to the comp in the morning.

Unfortunately, today morning - no alert box, no nothing. So I conculded the install must have been aborted somehow. Probably timeout? OMFG.

NI Support says you need to be registered, or have the product activated, or both to get support. OMFG.

So I browsed the knowledge base and started installation disabling things I think have been installed already. Problem:

    • bad feeling, that the program will not work right anyway in some hours,
    • When I disabled the components, I could only do so by clicking on the red X which says "Will not be available" => even more bad feelings

So preliminary result of setting up my new DAW:

    • hardware assembly: smooth
    • install of Win7 and drivers: smooth
    • install of Cubase 6: smooth
    • install of NI Komplete 7: hickups and ongoing

Let's see how this works out.

They are sending out replacement discs on a case by case basis it seems.
I opened a ticket this morning and received a reply a few hours later stating that they are mailing me a replacement disc. They also want the bad disc back for testing. No problem! :)

    Workaround

Like I said before there is a way to use the program.

Install only the application and activate it.

Then you can manually double-click on all the installers on each disk and skip folders 2 and 3 on the K4 B disk.

It does work. I'll only be missing some files for the orchestral stuff until I get a new disc......hopefully....;-)

Yup. Slybass3000 is 100% correct. Just uncheck the orchestral content and you'll be fine. Submit a ticket and wait for your replacement disc. Once it comes just run the installer again and select the orchestra library.
