I am on Mac Yosemite 10.10.1

I am trying to install my K7 discs but I get this message

"Installation cannot proceed, as not all requirements were met. This product requires at least OSX 10.5."

What can I do? I am on 10.10.1, I don't understand why I get that msg?

LOL so I just did a search and turns out, K7 is not supported on Yosemite and the only choice I have is to pay for the upgrades to K10.

That's fkn ridiculous. I will never be buying another NI product again. Goodbye

I'm in that same boat right now. If they don't give a free upgrade to a compatible version, I'm out as well.

I think the problem is due to a very simple sorting 'problem' in the installer. Normally if you just compare strings in C++ / JAVA etc., they all think that 10.10 is smaller than 10.5 because they get sorted alphabetically and not numerically.

This is very basic stuff for any decent coder. It is a very simple fix after all. But if the marketing people think that it's better to 'push' people to upgrade to Komplete 10, then I think you have gotten it wrong and it will be a huge PR miss for you guys. Not measurable in cash. I think you will lose more customers (and revenue) if you think that way. But hopefully you are not, and just be nice and release a new installer with the proper sorting.

Hint for the coders, just compare the numerical part as a number (double, float, whatever language you are using..) and not as a string :)

Edit: I think it is as I suspected, since the installer can be fooled by changing temporarily the OS X version numbering (taken from another thread on this forum): But for anyone wondering, it can still be installed by changing the OSX version number in the /system/library/coreservices/systemversion.plist file back to 10.9. Remember to change it back.

However this is something to be done with extreme care, because if you don't know exactly what you are doing, you might end up with unbootable system. Check this thread for detailed instructions (and read all the replies too, so you know what to expect). Especially print the recovery instructions if you manage to fail.

That is a way to get around this problem if you feel safe to do so... But since it can break the system, i would not recommend it. NI really need to provide users with new and working installation files!

Did NI ever release a fix to run earlier installers that choke on 10.10?

Nope. Copy the installer to your desktop - right click and "Open Package Contents" - install the individual installers from there - they will run fine, and they will authorize via Service Center and then they'll even update all the way to current versions - which, by the way, all run fine.

Terrible of NI to try to force an upgrade out of this. I'd bet that installer could have been sorted in less than 30 minutes.
