So, Komplete 7 is only €299 for the users of Kontakt 1-4, Reaktor 2-5, Kore 2, Guitar Rig 4 and is available between September 1st and December 31st, 2010, *as long as stock lasts*

So my question is: how big is NI's stock? Will it run out before October when I was planning to buy the Komplete 7?

That's quite interesting. I knew that there was a difference in upgrade product and full-purchase product (for the protection against consumer re-sale) but I was under the imipression that activation and serial numbers differentiated the two. I hadn't thought that there was a physical difference in the product itself and that NI could "run out" of it's flagship offering.

Someone smarter than me needs to weigh in on this.

    Peace,

    Dave

I think it's merely a legal "out". Sort of like "Manufacturer reserves the right to change product specifications without warning" or "Pork flavor or caramel color may not be available in some countries". That means that a buyer should be aware that at some point, it may be unavailable for purchase at the advertised price.

It would not be wise for NI to allow themselves to "run out of stock" too early. But as a matter of business practicality, they don't want to have too many on hand at the end of December either. Ideally, they would run out of product exactly on the last day of the offer, and exactly with the last customer order.

But that's impossible to do unless you make each unit to order (which makes no sense either). Even budgeting an additional 10% of units expected to be sold, it could very easily happen that they'd run out with a week to go in the sales window. If that were to happen, this would be their legal "out".

If they were to run out in November, or even early December, I doubt they would cease all sales. That would be passing up too much revenue for a product that needs no additional design, coding, or debugging, and it would be cutting short the Christmas holiday shopping revenue. No, I'd bet they would order additional units from the manufacturer.

But if they run out on December 27th, well maybe the decision to end manufacturing could (and eventually should) be made.

(disclaimer) Of course, all that is merely my opinion. I reserve the right to be wrong.

I suspect this is an attempt to persuade buyers to buy now. They also may truly only want to offer this upgrade for a limited time (through the end of the year).

If NI runs out of stock, they very well may manufacturer additonal copies -- or they may not.

There will probably be product available in October.

The physical differences between Full Retail, Update, and Upgrade versions may be limited to Serial Numbers,, UPC Codes, and stickers on the external box.

You guys already ordered? Due to some unexpected bills I think I'm able to pick it not until November... :(
