Someone told me komplete can't make music. It must have a host app like logic as komplete is just a few plug ins.

I thought komplete was everything and all that's needed?

Also is komplete 7 available as a demo?

Basically, Komplete is a set of instruments & Efx, it can't play by itself. It's like a guitar without guitarist, Drum without drummer etc etc. There's quite few demo of many plugins and Player on NI Website. Best is to go on Komplete page and see what it offer. Check out Komplete 7 Player.

That doesn't help one bit as it didn't answer my question at all.

Komplete site says it has everything you need. So this is why I'm asking.

I have some players but need a demo of komplete 7. Where is it?
    Thanks.

Where did you saw that? It says "THE KOMPLETE INSTRUMENTS AND EFFECTS COLLECTION"
There's no mention that this is a music production software...

I thought it answered your question perfectly. If you're too lazy to check out stuff for yourself, kindly be less ungrateful to those who take the time to help you.

I guess the question simply is that does komplete 7 come with a sequencer or do you need an external sequencer to "play" the samples, instruments and effects?

Of course nothing does anything by itself, but is Komplete a complete solution depends on it having the capability to sequence and accept midi controllers without other software.

No it didn't answer my question. It didn't say no komplete is fine by itself or it needs something else. It o my made sense to those who know this stuff.

So. Can you make songs or do you have to have something else?

When I said I read it said it does everything I was thinking of reason. Sorry.

    I am grateful.

Komplete by itself is useless which is what I am understanding. And that sucks. I can't believe such a supposed high end pro software can't web make music/songs.

No need to be mean. I just don't know much.
Ni emailed me and said komplete needs a sequencer. Is GarageBand capable? I don't even know what a sequencer is really. Sorry. I'm just wanting and trying to learn and get into this area.

Ableton Live does everything though I think so why use ni? I know live doesn't do everything but it has a synth and drums and others too I think. But it also has a 16 step thingy or whatever you call it where you place your sounds where you want them to go.

What about Reason 5 and GarageBand?

The reason to use Komplete is that it come with a number of highly capable instruments and thousands of extremely useful sounds. All of this is WAYYYYYY beyond the Live stuff. I'd regard Ableton Live's instruments as pencils, for quickly jotting notes and ideas while Komplete would be more akin to oil paints for a more detailed masterpiece.

Reason - no. Don't know Garageband. Google it. If it can use VSTi's then, yes.

As far as I know, Garage band works only with AU (Audio Units), Komplete's page state that Audio Units is a supported interface. Audio Units seems to be limited though
    Source: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/GarageBand

Even if Komplete support Audio Units (AU), I'd say no because it seems tad limited, so this bring you back to one of mhy previous post where I sent you on WIKI page about VST, there's a whole list of VST host software in.

Are you on pc or mac?

I only ask this as Garagebeand is a mac only piece of software & AU's will only work on a mac, if you haven't got a mac you won't be able to use them.

If you have got a mac then I would suggest using Logic for your sequencer as Garageband is like a Super - Lite version of it.

Your AU's will have full functionality in Logic

I have both my iMac and pc.
I wouldn't be doing anything fancy that's for sure. At least not for long time. So limited use in GarageBand depending on exactly how so might not be so bad at first.

Komplete cost a ton of $ and with me wanting to learn and get into this stuff I'm not sure what I wanna do.

Wanting to learn is a good thing & when you are first staring out it can seem very confusing not knowing where to apply your efforts.

If you were to decide on going with Logic there's a really good book I'd recommend you get, which will give you an excellent foundation on which to build your knowledge on.

If you already have Komplete then you may just want to get Logic Express (which will be more useful to you than Garageband IMO) to begin with as it has all the functionality of Logic Pro just with a view less things to play with, then if you thought you were ready for more you can buy the upgrade to the full version & it won't have cost you anymore than if you had bought it all at the same time.

Good luck with it though, whatever you decide on doing.
