I'm thinking about buying the Komplete 7.. but, it looks overwhelmingly huge and complicated. I'm very new to making beats and the only sounds I got right now is Maschine's library and Komplete 7 Players (which does not have many sounds at all, or am I just blind or something). Should I get Komplete 7 Element first? Is it just a smaller version of Komplete 7? If so, when I'm ready, can I upgrade to Komplete 7's full version? Element is $119.. how much is the upgrade form that if it's possible?

The genre of beats I'm aiming to produce are R&B, Pop, and Hip Hop.

I know the full version comes with Battery, Reaktor, and all those other softwares and it looks very intimidation because I'm so new to all of this. What I really want is more sounds! I like pianos, guitars, orchestrals, strings, brass, and definitely have to dig into synths.

So what should I do? Plz help I really want new sounds but I dont want to download freeware, I got some money to spare so I'd like quality sounds if I'm going use the space on my computer. I'm on a 2.93 quad core iMac with 4GB of RAM.

    Plz help!

Komplete 7 is overwhelmingly huge, I agree. If you need/want everything in it, it's obviously a bargain. Even if you need a couple of the main pieces, it's a bargain.

However... As you say that you're so new to it all, I would advise against getting it immediately. It sounds a little like the money is burning a hole in your pocket. It also sounds like you haven't explored the free Players enough yet. What do you class as "many sounds"? Because I think just the Kore 2 Player alone is pretty generous with the number of sounds it offers. It's one of my favourites. I've even bought a couple of the Soundpacks to extend the particular areas I like best.
And the Maschine library itself has a pretty extensive selection of quite a variety of sounds.
I would advise you to play about with the things you've got first and really see where you're lacking sounds and see what sort of sounds you think you'll really want.

Komplete 7 Elements does seem a pretty good package (and I think you can get it cheaper than $119 - though you don't seem to mind throwing your cash about :p). But you can't, as far as I know, upgrade from it to the full, grown-up Komplete 7.

Also, just because you have some spare cash, don't overlook the freebies that are available. There are some corkers.

Believe me when I say, I know the G.A.S. feeling. But I also know it's best to just step back and look at what you actually have and whether you actually need anything else.

Well since the upgrade isn't possible, I have my mind made up.
I'm going to buy Komplete 7 because I know I will get it sooner or later, why not start early and learn about it now, right? The pianos aren't cutting it for me in the Players edition. I need more orchestral instruments as well. How are the sounds of those type of instruments in Komplete 7? I need to start off with good presets first, and then I will get into shaping my own sounds.

    e-Voucher => Session String

You might like using your Komplete 7 e-Voucher towards copy of Session Strings too...

Well, the way I see things like this is that if you take too much on at once, you won't reap the benefits at all. Same reason I don't buy more than 1 or 2 CDs at the same time. Any more and they get neglected. And yes, I still buy CDs.

But you seem to have made your mind up anyway. In the Players, I can only think of a couple of pianos: the dubplate piano and the ragtime piano. I actually like both of these but they're not necessarily typical pianos. Have you tried the pianos from the Maschine library? I don't think the grand in there is too bad. Not amazing but then both pianos and strings are notoriously difficult to sample/model.
As for strings, I'm afraid I can't comment on the ones in the full Kontakt, maybe someone else can, though my opinion is that NI are not particularly renowned for their strings and the better/best ones are to be found elsewhere.

The decision is obviously yours ultimately and, with all due respect, I don't really care what you buy. :p
But I'll restate my advice that you should probably master and exhaust your current setup before expanding.

to be honest, i downloaded the free players from NI, i never used them, but when i heard about the update 1.6 using vsts, i went out and bought Komplete 7 before it was released just to learn what it can do, it was overwhelming... so much to learn at one point, and then i wasn't really using it, but when that 1.6 beta dropped.... whooooaaa boy it became official that Komplete 7 was one of my greatest purchases ever made for music... I can't say enough about it... so if you have the money don't waste your time with the elements cd jump straight to 7, now just remember its a lot to learn, just take your time with it like everything else.... P.S. i still haven't been through all the sounds yet... and you can't create create create... oh boy endless creativity

komplete 7 is probabaly the best deal in the soft synth world in my honest opinion. It really delivers ALOT of content. if your interested in 2 of the products in the bundle than it's worth it. I honestly feel reaktor alone is worth it. I was very intimidated at first by the thought of reaktor, but it seems with each update (and the addition of the players) reaktor has become more and more user friendly. now it's my most go to plugin.
then you look at the benefits of having the full version of kontakt and guitar rig, (GR4 as a sample shaping tool is insane)
I will say that if your like me and on a laptop... be prepared to give up ALOT of HDD space if you wanna have it all on one drive. totally worth it though.

Really glad someone asked this question.

I am thinking of selling a few more of my hardware synths to get something like Komplete 7, Reaktor is amazing on its own.

In the UK I could get: Native Instruments Komplete 7 and Kore 2 for £495

    Is Kore 2 worth it?

Also Komplete Elements 7 is £39.99 is this worth it?

Komplete 7 would give me a hell of an arsenal of sounds and VSTs to create new sounds.

Really loving Maschine and haven't even tried most of the sounds yet, the amount of kits and patterns is amazing!

Do all the sounds from Komplete integrate with Maschine or do you have to load each VST that you get with it? Can all the presets be loaded easily and edited with the Maschine knobs?

Lastninja... man its well worth it, i have kore 2 but not the controller but truthfully NI did a good job, cause when you load kore up in maschine its already mapped to control kore, it takes a little getting use to, but it works...

Thanks for the input, I been checking out all the videos, some really cool stuff included by the looks of it.

Could Komplete 8 and Kore 3 be on the horizon?

Anyone know why Komplete Elements is only £39.00 in the UK, maybe other products are going to be reduced?

I was surprised and wondered why Elements had pretty much halved in price at a few places. I'm considering picking it up just for the VSL content. Looks and sounds decent from the demos/videos as far as I can tell. And then there's the voucher too. Might hold off using it though in case NI release anything else new in the next few months. Like Maschine soundpacks perhaps...

The places that did offer it for £39.99 have now put their prices up to £59/£59.99 respectively.

I contacted Music Matters, whose site still had it for £39.99 but when I added it the price changed in my "basket", and they said it was just a weekend thing while they had some stock that they'd paid more for than the new stock, so were letting it go cheap. Or something like that. Glad you got one though. :)

Let me know what the VSL strings are like, if you don't mind. And the piano too.
