    Hi,

No replies to my problem yesterday.
I purchased upgrade version of KOMplete 8 to place a clean install on a new computer running Win 7 at 64bit.
My old version is on XP 32bit on another computer.
My question.-must I have the old version installed on the new computer in order to use the upgrade version.

I have sent 3 tickets to tech support without any success.
    Can anyone assist?
    Michael

I'll guess that no-one has replied her as they are not 100% certain. Nor am I.

But, from what I've seen here, I don't think so, as long as your qualifying product is registered on your NI Account, so that the upgrade can be activated.

    Hi ,
    Thanks for your reply.
I think if I dont get a reply from my other posts regarding how to download the sample libraries I going to throw Komplete 8 in the bin and find products out there that actually work and where the support is better.
    3 tickets with useless replies.
    Thanlks again
    Michael

You do not need the previous version installed. You can install the upgrade alone as it is the full version. As long as your NI account has a previous full version registered your upgraded code will work alone without the previous version installed. Hope that answers your question.

    Hi,
i believe your right. This is the fifth install to date over the last 5 days without success in obtaining Library samples.
Its crazy.Ive never had this issue before with my other upgrades.I dont get any prompts to put the remaining 11 discs to install the libraries..And when I place the discs in the drive I get zip Archive.pax files.
I wish someone out there would tell me how the install process works for them.
Im thinking I might do a complete windows clean install. But my other installs have been flawless,Sonar X1,Roland Quad Capture,Melodyne.
    Thanks
    Michael

The installer should have a "Custom Setup" window, where you specify which apps/content you want to install. As long as everything is selected, you should be prompted to insert all of the DVDs.

The data on the DVDs is compressed and the installer software understands and uses the .pax data.

    Hi,
Thats how I figured it but-

When installing I click on all the triangles of applications /content/vst and select on each icon(entire feature will be installed on local hard drive)
    Pathwaysfor applications-C:\Program Files\Native Instruments
    Vst 32 F:\Program Files(x86)\Cakewalk\Vst plugins
    Vst 64 F:\Program Files\Cakewalk\Vst plugins
    Content H:\ Native Instruments\Sample Library

At no time do I get a prompt to install other 11 discs.

NI finally sent me a tool kit-interesting.Im no computer geek.

As you can see The factory content path is not where I intend them to go for content(Library)
They seem to be going to common files.

When I got the new computer, they installed the O/S on HD 1
Scarcity of HD meant I had to wait a few days for the other 2.When they arrived ,one was not the one I ordered.
Came home installed Sonar X1 and Quad Capture-no issues -working fine.
Went back to get the 3rd HD 2days later
Before installing NI I checked the inside of the computer and found that the DVD and !st O/S dive were in 6Gb ports.the 1st HD was only 3Gb.
    I reconnected them to 3Gb ports .
Placed 2nd and 3rd HD on 6Gb ports (FAEX)
Windows opens and I cant access Sonar-icon changed.
Discovered Drive letter had somehoiw changed.
Also in acronic Sonar HD switched to 3rd spot
Use Acronic to change Sonar HD back to F drive.
Now able to use Sonar-no issues.

Attempted to install NI x6 without success. on 3rd HD(H)

Even tried to install content on Sonar HD-same problem
Tried to install content on 1st HD-same result.

I think I am going to have to do a Totally clean install from scratch.

    Hi,
Yes I found the solution. For some strange reason my dvd player wouldn't or couldn't read the discs.
I bought a new dvd player and straight away it began reading the discs.
I had to call in a computer technician and thats how it got solved.
As to why the other dvd player could not read the discs-we dont know.
    Hope this helps.

There could also have been a firmware upgrade for your old DVD reader, that sometimes happens to allow reading of newer formats. But newer models DVD drives are usually better and faster anyway.
