I received the installation discs this morning but about 60% through the Komplete (1st disc) installation it displays an error message like this "installer encountered error that caused installation to fail, contact manufacturer for assist". I tried it 3 times and no such luck, I was able to activate the products but obviously I have none of the samples for Reaktor, Massive, etc. Also I tried to install the sample files on an external; this may be something to do with it.

I would contact the company but there is no contact number for the UK and there appears to be no email for technical support.

    Any help would be welcomed.

Have you tried cleaning the DVD softly? Have you tried making a disk image (coping the disk to your HDD) and then mounting that and running the install from that?

I ask because my iMac was very sensitive to the K8 DVDs, and had to whipe a couple straight out of the box, before thery would even recognised. And no, its not my DVD drive, as it was the same in my external DVD drive also.

I copied/made disk images of all the 12 DVDs onto my iMac HDD. then Mounted them all and ran the installation from the mounted install disk, the komplete install took 2 hours and it was fully automatic and i did not have to sit and swap any disks. Plus, I then had a backup of all 12 disks on my HDD too :O)

I'm far from impressed with this 'technical' support. I've managed to get Massive, Absynth, FM and a few reaktor synths working (and I can build an ensemble from stratch at least with the building blocks) but I still can't seem to get all the Kontakt samples and instruments like Carbon 2 to work.

And when I contacted support they just directed me to the thread I'd begun! And suprise suprise there's no solution been posted.

I just bought Komplete 8 Ultimate - the hard drive seems to be defective.

It spins, the light is up but it can NOT be seen/detected by 6 computers.

I tried to put the second cable to add more extra power - nothing...

    Hi,

This may be a problem with one particular disc.

I've had two disc sets now and there've been problems with both - initially the Program disc (dissapointing) and then some four weeks later when NI finally sent me another disc, Kontakt lib disc 3 was bad.

Anyway - here's the resolution FOR OS X ONLY! which worked for me at least - it does require dipping into Terminal which I have to do every day for work but which I understand may be a bit ucomfortable for some users...

    Here goes anyway:

    Open Terminal.app from within Applications>Utilities

Open a new Finder window and browse to the Komplete Install Disc.

In the new Terminal window, type (lose my quotation marks for all of these) 'cd' and then type '/Volumes/'

Now type the first couple of letters of the disc name, eg for the Kontakt library type Ko (note: its case sensistive!) and press tab. This will auto-complete the name of the disc. Then press enter.

Now inside the disc, type 'ls -l' and a list of files on that disc will appear. Something like this:

    .
    ..
Kontakt Factory Library Library Part 3.pkg
Kontakt Factory Library Library Part 4.pkg

Now type Open and type the first couple of letters of the first installer and press tab, this will auto-complete all but the last number of the package.

Simply type for example '3.pkg' at the end of the line and press return.

The installer will open and you should be able to install from there and install all the other non faulty discs in the same way.

This way you can isolate the particular discs and order replacements from NI but still install most of the rest of the library - simple really :/
