Installed on 32 bit XP for me...

I installed on a 32 bit XP machine also, have the ultimate version of K8. All went smooth sailing. The external HD is great imop. Plugged it in my front 2 usb ports.

Took me about 6-7 hours to install everything. Get it registered. Updates downloaded and installed. Total about 8-9 hours.

Upon first opening of Kore 2 and scanning etc. Just setting the options, etc. Seems to be working fine. Can't wait to get into it more. Hope that helps someone. peace...

    Thanks. That's great news.

Barring any coding enhancements intended for Windows 7, have the synths been changed in ways that make them substantially functionally superior to their predecessors? eg. FM8, Massive, Absynth 5, etc...

I think that except for Kontakt and Guitar Rig, the versions included with Komplete 8 are the same as the updates recently released for download. I'm not completely sure of this, but I haven't seen any evidence to the contrary.

    Awesome!

This is great news - thanks for sharing and please keep us updated on how it goes on your XP rig. I'm running XP SP3 with Cubase SX3 - I almost upgraded to Win 7 in the Spring when I bought my latest studio PC but so many VST's and Plugins still don't (or never will - in the case of Wizoo software) work with Win7 so I stayed put with what works. This latest NI upgrade freaked me out though - I hope they keep supporting XP for some time to come.

I think there was a comment on this forum that Kontakt 5 doesn't work on XP because of constant glitching.

Well, as long as I can still use Kontakt 4, I guess I don't really need Kontakt 5...

Installed okay on Win XP Pro 64bit SP3

I just bought Komplete 8 yesterday and it installed fine on XP Pro 64b SP3. I haven't used it yet so I can't say if it actually works without problems. I'll get around to playing with it later this week and let you know. I was prepared to change OS to Win 7 64b if it didn't work but maybe I won't have to.

    Thanks TerraMan!

Coincidentally, I just bought the Ultimate upgrade and will try to install it this weekend. Got my fingers crossed because I'm definitely not planning to upgrade to Win7 at this point.

Installed okay on Win XP Pro 64bit SP3 update - So far so good.

I played around with all the standalone modules (Kontakt, Absynth, etc) and so far so good. All audio and midi configs work fine. At this point I'm inclined to say it will run on XP Pro 64b SP3 without problems. I'll test out DAW integration on the weekend and let you know. I'm running Cubase 5. For what it's worth I'm a 41 year old beginner with this stuff so if I encounter problems it may not be due to compatibility issues. The problem might be between the chair and keyboard !

This afternoon my CPU has gone through the roof especially when using Gtr Rig 5 or 4 either standalone or as plug in. Never had any problems in Komplete 7 but I am not sure if this related to 8 or not, although I suspect it is. Running XP so NI are not going to tell me are they? Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah :S

    Anyone else having this problem?

Guitar Rig can be a CPU hog, nothing new here.

It's new for me as I never had any CPU problems with either 3 or 4 and could use all presets without any hitches or glitches at all. At the moment since installing Komplete 8
the CPU has gone off the clock. I need to double check the routing on Gtr Rig 5 as perhaps something has changed to cause this. Running Intel Quad Q9550 @ 3.83GHz with 3.50 GB of RAM. Interested to know if anyone else has had a similar experience because if not it could well be pilot error on my part. I'll investigate and let you know either way.

RESOLVED Routing error basically I had a different routing on 4 than on 5 which I guess caused a clash. I had a CPU of 55% showing on both and with High selected it went off the scale. Now have 2% and only 5% when H is selected.

Kontakt 5 is now crashing Cubase 5 below is the crash log. Catch 22 here is I have sent the log to Steinberg support but clearly whilst Cubase 5.5.3 is supported on XP Komplete 8 isn't and as such I cannot see any point in sending the log to NI. Anyway here it is below so if anyone has any ideas I would appreciate it. If I cannot resolve this I may well have to sell my Yamaha 01x (No drivers for Windows 7) and upgrade both my sound card and move onto Windows 7 :(

Yeah Kontakt is also crashing my system. I'm having some sound card issues on top of it. Keep in mind I'm not an expert so it may be that I'm not setup correctly. I'm using a MOTU Ultralite MK3 sound card and Cubase crashes when I use Kontact with the sound card at 192Khz bit rate. Seems to be better when used at 96Khz but still hangs from time to time. I only noticed it when using Kontakt. I think for the most part it's driver issues and my anti-virus (Kaspersky). I have to disable Kaspersky and disconnect from my network (Internet) to make sure I can even work for 15min without crashing. I'm sure there are many things not setup correctly.

What are you pc specs? Also do you have other resources going? If so what are they?

    How clean is your pc?
    ---
I also just did abit of reading, your soundcard doesnt support more than 96khz. So this could be your problem straight up...
These type of simple clashes will cause things to bug out...

Just to say I have now resolved the problem. Firstly Steinberg technical support said the crash log showed a lack of RAM as although my system shows 3G of RAM XP 32 will only use 2.

Secondly I had run a registry clean up prior to the problem and suspect I deleted something I shouldn't have thankfully I saved a back up and re-installed it. I also believe the project had somehow become corrupted which didn't help.

Now working perfectly although I do not run more than one instance of Komplete 8 at any one time and convert to audio then delete the VST in from my project before opening another instance. I think Komplete 8 is more RAM hungry that 7 but used sparingly it works perfectly.

    -PC is Dell Workstation T5500
    3.2Ghz (Xeon W5580)
    12Gb Ram
    Win XP Pro 64b

-Yes other resources are running. Too many to name.
-The PC is not clean at all

    I guess there's my problem. :(
I have the MOTU UltraLite MK3. Page 9 of the manual says "...standard sample rates up to 192Khz" and it shows up as an available option in Cubase's "Device Setup". I don't use it at that rate anymore anyway.

I think I need to clean the PC and remove unnecessary resources as you suggested.
    Thanks

I COMPLETELY agree! I use XP because it was the last windows OS to allow you to install an alternate kernel (F5 at install time). Using a non-ACPI kernel allowed me to get my latency down to ~2ms with no glitches, I can't pull this off in any other version of windows because of IRQ issues that newer versions don't allow you to tweak! Real artists and professionals don't care about latest versions, we care about stability and performance! My laptop is a music appliance, I don't care if it runs the latest OS, I just want my music software to run right, and many people don't realize how much better their latency could be if they just used a non-ACPI kernel! There is no real reason that some VST/VSTi's can't work on any version of windows, this is total bullshit IMO! Guess I'm officially done giving money to NI... sorry guys, it's been fun while it lasted!
