"Native Instruments Komplete 8 is the latest virtual instrument and sample library collection in the hugely successful series and delivers 110GB of content including 27 instruments and effects, 11,000 sounds and supports the new NI standard and successor to Kore, Maschine."

If that chart is to be believed, it looks like I would have to seriously consider the Ultimate version. It has all the Scarbee basses plus Funk Guitar, Evolve Mutations 1&2, George Duke, Session Strings Pro, Razor, and the Mouth.

I have considered all of those at least twice this year. Now it all depends on the upgrade price.

P.S. It also notes Absynth 5, Kontakt 5 for both versions of Komplete 8 and shows them for Komplete 7 too, so that's a bit confusing.

110 GB is a bit too much and I'm not too good at shopping for drives...Any recommendations for some good affordable ones? I need to prepare for the first of September.

for those who were doubting the including of Battery:

    http://www.dv247.com/computer-music-software/native-instruments-komplete-8--88847

Native Instruments Komplete 8 builds on years of ground-breaking music software development, delivering over 110gb of high quality content for music production, live performance and sound design. This software collection contains a selection from the range of KOMPLETE Instruments and Effects – 27 different instruments and effects for virtually every genre of music.

Included in Komplete 8 are some brand new versions of classic NI plug-ins. KONTAKT 5, BATTERY 3.1, REAKTOR 5.6 and GUITAR RIG 5 PRO push the sonic boundaries once again, and new titles have also been added - STUDIO DRUMMER – easy drum software, high quality kits, built-in effects and thousands of grooves, TRANSIENT MASTER – A powerful studio effect for shaping sounds, WEST AFRICA –African percussion and melodic instruments with cutting-edge rhythms, and RETRO MACHINES MK2 – a collection of legendary analogue synths and Keyboards, plus there are over 1,300 additional sounds for MASSIVE, FM8 and ABSYNTH 5.

Just what we need on a KORE forum, an advert for something that we can't use in Kore. Taking the piss or what?

i have taken out certain bits to make it less offensive.

i included this advertisement from DV247 to clarify what is included in Komplete 8.

and it is wrong to say that you can't use Komplate 8 in Kore.

...except that K8 is optimized for Maschine and doesn't come with any KSD presets.

    Back on your side please..

Sowari...We don't want you to be a moderator on the Kore forums...

This is a bit "freer" in expression than the other "Kontrolled Pages"

We don't need "Napoleonic" policemen around here...

    Thanks

No, the USB bus is not known for speed. The hard drives will of course be slower if they're 5400 RPM, but you have 7200 RPM drives going over USB 2.0 pretty darn nice.

And Mr Sowari is fully aware of that.

I saw something similar on another site as well. Very strange they list Battery 3.1 when Battery is currently 3.2.2.

I think ad copy needs to be proofread better.

indeed i am fully aware of that.

but to say you can't use Komplete 8 in Kore 2 is not accurate.

i agree that Komplete 8 will not interact with Kore in the same way as Komplete 7, but you can still use Komplete 8 Instruments and FX in Kore 2.

@Paul23, that link does not work for me.

But until NI provide KOMPLETE information on the effect of updating on Kore, we don't know what will happen. Not exactly an incentive....

I've decided to dedicate one computer to Kore and the synths as they stand at the moment, for me, its the only way to proceed without risk

Can anyone recommend some good external drive to use? I'm glad that Komplete 8 includes everything from Komplete 7, but now it's even larger! I need the extra space for sure. I have a firewire 800 port so it would be good if there was some really affordable drive just for Komplete...

I don't know if this will answer anything for people asking about the future of KORE, and I'm not sure on the rules about repeating info on emails received from support.

However... this is what I was told:

Please note that KORE doesn´t become defunct only because it´s not being developed
any further. KORE will still be supported through further
maintenance updates for the time being, so you´ll be able to use it for at least a
    couple of years.

Native Instruments currently has two updates in preparation that will optimize the
compatibility of KORE 2 with current computer setups - including Mac OS X 10.7 LION.

The first upcoming update will integrate the latest engine versions of KONTAKT 4
and REAKTOR 5, and is scheduled for the third quarter of this year; a further
update will provide 64bit plugin versions of KORE 2 for Windows and Mac OS X, and
is scheduled for the fourth quarter.

don't go cheap, they die easily. A Western Digital died on me, my LaCie's seem to last forever. Get a 7200rpm firewire based one.
