I've tried installing Komplete 9 twice now. The first time, it made it all the way to Kontakt Disc G (disc 9 of 12) and then just failed with a generic "the installation failed" screen. The second time, it only made it as far as the Battery Disc (disc 2 of 12) before failing in the exact same way. Although I lightly used my computer the first time, the second time I closed everything and ensured that no extraneous applications that could interfere were running in the background (I also turned off Time Machine). Should I just keep trying and hope I get lucky? It takes forever to install, so I'm not feeling hopeful about that. Did anyone else run into this issue?

In case someone else runs into this, I just kept trying. Because it failed in a random spot each time, I figured I might eventually get lucky. On the fifth attempt, it installed without errors. It's tedious, but it did work.

You are luckier than myself. I have the K9U, and it kept failing on me. I ended up having to manually install all the components individually to identify the problems, and found out that 3 Kontakt library installers were shipped broken, on the drive. Now I have no choice but to wait for tech support, to get a resolution...

    mclarensmps,

Have you installed these "3 Kontakt libraries" before, perhaps a demo (or other) version?

I had a problem with my K9U installation where it appeared Battery 4 wouldn't install. I would see the installer running but nothing was ever copied over to my hard drive. I thought the problem was with my K9U drive, so the NI tech support person suggested I try to download and install the Battery 4 demo. When I had the same problem with the demo, I realized the problem was with my computer. I went into the Windows Registry (not recommended unless you know what you are doing) and I searched on "Battery 4" (my specific problem) and deleted ever registry entry with that name. I was then able to install Battery 4 correctly from my drive.

    Hey Martin,

Well, in my case I'm installing on a Mac, so there isn't really any registry crawling to do. The three libraries are:

    Balinese Gamelan
    Scarbee Pre-bass Amped
    Vienna Concert Grand

Everything besides those three .pkg installed correctly on the mac. Of these, I actually own and had Vienna Concert Grand installed before, but I removed it from the computer before installing Komplete.

I bought Vienna as a part of the Piano bundle, so I own Berlin Concert Grand and New York CG, and I had no problems installing those two (which had previously been installed on the computer, and then removed before Komplete)

Having said that, you've given me the idea to attach the disk to my PC and try to further diagnose what's wrong with the pkg files using Windows.

I've actually gone through some tedious steps to figure out what's happening, if this information will help anyone else, I'll post it here (not trying to attempt a thread hijack, just wanting to share information that may help others troubleshoot)

My Issue: When installing Komplete 9 Ultimate from the NI Hard drive on a Macbook Pro with Mavericks OSX, Part way through the installation, I get: Installation failed, please contact software provider.

Every time, the bar would get stuck near 60% and display 6 minutes remaining, then 11 minutes, then 16, 21 and then 26 minutes remaining. The bar wouldn't move, and eventually the installer would fail. I attempted to install on the internal drive of the mac, an external drive, and used all the different USB/Thunderbolt ports I had available in different combinations.

Turns out, all the applications and plugins install correctly, but parts of the sample library had corrupted packages.

    ------
Excerpt from email I sent to Tech Support
    ------

    Hi,

I wanted to give an update on the progress on the issue. I manually installed each of the Sample Libraries on my machine, and was able to identify the problematic ones. They are the following:

    Balenese Gamelan (2.17GB)
    Scarbree PreBass Amped (12.39GB)
    Vienna Concert Grand (3.35GB)

I attempted the following steps to (unsuccessfully) resolve my issue. I enabled the view all files (including hidden) on the Mac, then copied the following files to my System drive on the computer:

    Komplete 9 Ultimate Installer Mac.mpkg
    Balinese Gamelan Library Balinese Gamelan.pkg
Scarbee Pre-Bass Amped Library Part 1.pkg
Scarbee Pre-Bass Amped Library Part 2.pkg
Scarbee Pre-Bass Amped Library Part 3.pkg
Scarbee Pre-Bass Amped Library Part 4.pkg
Scarbee Pre-Bass Amped Library Part 5.pkg
Scarbee Pre-Bass Amped Library Part 6.pkg
Scarbee Pre-Bass Amped Library Part 7.pkg
Vienna Concert Grand Library Vienna Concert Grand.pkg

After this, I ran the installer from my system drive, and only selected the 3 problematic packages which I copied over. They still showed me the message "Installation failed, please contact the software provider" or something like that.

I then looked further into it, and viewed the contents of the Balinese Gamelan.pkg. I attempted to extract the: archive.pax.gz file. The archive Utility gave me the message:

Unable to Expand "Archive.pax.gz" into "Contents".
(Error 1 - Operation not permitted.)

I followed the same steps on a pkg file that DOES work, and was able to successfully open this archive.

    ------

As added information to that, I changed all permissions to read and write while trying to extract/install, and that didn't help either, so it doesn't appear to be a Permissions issue

K9U OSX Installation failed, please contact software provider ...

    Hello Everyone,
I have got the same issue on my MBP OSX Mavericks: When installing Komplete 9 Ultimate from the NI Hard drive on a MacBook Pro / Mavericks OSX, Part way through the installation, I get: Installation failed, please contact software provider. :(
Every time, the bar would get stuck near the end and stop moving and eventually the installer would fail. I attempted to install on an OSX formatted external drive, and used both USB & Thunderbolt ports, HDD and SSD drive. I have also copied the content of the NI drive to one of mine and tried to run the install from there: same result.
I have previously successfully installed K9U on my Windows 8 desktop using the NI drive without any problem.
I will now attempt to remove any previous NI products (Komplete elements, Massive ...) from my MBP using the NI Uninstall Utility and try to run the K9U install again but I am running out of ideas.
I have noticed the NI drive is formatted in NTFS: could that be a problem for an install on OSX?
Should I try installing the 150 or so packages manually? Can the library path be changed afterwards in the applications?
    Many thanks for your help.

NI Unistall utility = crap. Had to removed everything manually.

K9U failed again after that : stick at 26 minutes again.

I am now installing all the K9U packages manually. Thanks NI for keeping me busy on my free time !

Hey stephane, you will probably end up with exactly the same issue with me, where some components are corrupted. Do let me know whatever the result, though, it'll be interesting if the same components are dodgy

So far the Scarbee Pre-Bass Amped Library Part 4 package is the only one that has failed to install (repeatedly on both Windows and
OSX machines). I am waiting to complete the updating process through Service Centre to test the others and will let you know.

Uhh, same problem here! The installation just randomly fails at showing about 26 or at the previous try, 32 minutes left... Frustrating. 1000euro for a product that won't install correctly.

So the only conclusion is that part of the NI hard drive is corrupted and you have to install libraries separately?

I'm having similar problems. As I posted in another thread, I would constantly get the same error message ("The Installer could not install the software because there was no software found to install"). I did get the applications and plugins to install, but not the content.
Then I noticed that after selecting my external hard drive as destination for the content, the file size of all the content was something like 10 MB (yes, MB). Obviously this can't be right. So I selected my system drive and the file size went up to about 240 GB. I hit install and it would start the installation but after about 15 mins I'd get the same error message as you guys did. So far I've spent about 8 hours trying to fix this and I'm getting really frustrated. Obviously tech support won't be answering for a while since it's Christmas. What a PITA.

Oh, btw: I'm running OSX 10.8.5 on a Mac Mini 2,3 GHz i7 Quad Core. Trying to install K9U Upgrade from K9.

I sent feedback to NI support and they answered to it on monday. They adviced me to run the NI support program and i sent the information back to NI. No solution yet (because of holidays) but it was encouraging to know that they're going to help out with this problem.

Me too. I'm on a MACbook pro at 10.9.1. I get the "The Installer could not install the software because there was no software found to install" message every time I try to install the 235 gigs of library content from their provided drive. What a drag. I put in a tech support ticket this morning. I really hope they resolve this soon. I was looking forward to recording with it over the holiday break, not being frustrated by it. The software is too expensive to be unusable....

    K9U Stalled installation

Same issue here, the installation is stalled at 22 minutes for over an hour now... IT seems that all the software installed perfectly fine, but not one of the sample libraries are being written in the designated folder of the external HD that I selected for installation.

Does anyone know if and how the samples can be manually installed?

    Thanks

Alexis- Are you on a mac? If so you can easily twirl down the content window from the installer and customize which libraries to install. I did that last night and was able to get them all installed. Finally! I also did the "plug it into a windows machine" tip from a similar thread. Not sure what did the trick, but I do think that installing the libraries one by one is the way to go, as opposed to a 235gb crapshoot of an install.....

I am positive now that NI shipped out a batch of bad drives. My friend ordered K9U too and I installed the whole thing from his drive. Worked like a charm. So I guess I'll have to wait for NI support to get back to me (it has been 5 days since I submitted a ticket) to get a new drive. This might take a while..

    Individual installs will not work

I tried doing it individually for most of the expansion content and it's not working for me. It allows me to install the software but none of the content and get the error message no matter what I try. Even looked inside the package and use the installers. They say they install but when I open the software it's not there.

I am having the same issue as everyone else here. Just submitted my support ticket. There are certainly enough complaints that NI cannot say this is an isolated problem. It's pretty clear there is a bad batch of drives that has shipped. I actually am not in a hurry to get everything loaded so I can wait (a reasonable period) for a new drive. What would be unacceptable is if NI denies there's an issue or somehow tries to justify not replacing these drives. Our $$$ went for the content AND the drive so I'd expect replacement drives since the content is inaccessible. Let's see how they handle it.....and how fast. BTW, if they want these drives shipped back, it should be on their dime, not ours.
I'll still have a high opinion of them if they handle this correctly and stay "customer focused". They *do* make great products.

They can be manually installed by looking in the appropriate folder for the installers. For the disc-based package, that may (or may not) be on the first DVD; possibly in a folder somewhere near the autoinstall EXE file.

For each of you having trouble, I would suggest that you temporarily disable your antivirus, especially if you have it set up to scan every file that your OS opens. Look for a feature such as "Active on", or something similarly named.

Also, I recommend that you have a look at your target hard drive partition, particularly for the library destinations. Make sure you have enough freespace available. If you don't, you could have a similar issue with "hanging installs".

    Good luck!
