Komplete 9 U Crossgrade only a HDD with a sticker put on?

Just got my package today. Didn't look at all like the versions I have seen at other peoples studios. The drive is some random black hard drive with no NI logo just a sticker that says Komplete 9 Ultimate which is put sloppily on there. The cable from the hard drive is so poor that the hard drive disconnected a few times when I touched it. There is also no documentation of the products inside. I saw other people that had a info sheet in their package with pictures of all the products and a small description inside.
Is this because I bought a crossgrade? Or is this normal? Because for the normal price this package looks a bit cheap(no I am not talking about the software content) and to be honest also for the crossgrade price I am a little bit disappointed.
Just wondering. What did your Komplete package contain?

Mine came with a metal HDD (which I installed the software from and then put it the back of the cupboard) and some decals. But then, I paid twice as much for it than it was in the recent promotion.

Where did you buy it from? If you say Ebay or secondhand, then yeah it could be fake.

    Have you tried registering it?

I bought it directly from the Native Instruments Store. The package was closed with Native Instruments Tape. So I guess its coming directly from them

Well, at least you know it's legit. Maybe they are cutting costs at the moment!

Was the hard drive at least shiny plastic or just some cheap dull stuff? I've always debated getting KU because of quality complaints from customers.

You ordered early and got the last of the metal cases. Mine is a plastic black case. Don't matter, as long as the products are solid on the drive.

My crossgrade came in yesterday. They sent the wrong USB cable AND the drive was faulty. Metal case, though... Hooray.

I don't get the problem....what does it matter how it comes?...it's about the software....you'llprobably never use that HDD again....and it's better than a big box with 15 DVD's or so

If I ever want to reinstall or install software that I didn't use before I will use it again. If it is broken at this point I will have a problem and will have to get in touch with Native Instruments before being able to reinstall. If the connection with the HDD is bad like I described it could also disconnect during the installation process which is also not good. At the same time I think it is not cool to send people different packages if they buy the same product. I have said already that I don't have any complaints about the software and it is clear to me that the software is the thing that matters the most. I was just wondering about the content of the package and the HDD and asked other people what theirs contained and looked like. And I know that its even written on the box that the HDD may look different. I am not trying to make a big fuss over minor issues. I was just a little bit disappointed by the presentation of the product I bought. Just normal customer feedback.

yeah the box is quite more eyecatching. i dont care as long as the hdd is working even a metal case would be nicer for stability and temperate.

I have the same problem. I got the metal case and single usb cable, (not the y cable), and the hard drive does nothing when I connect it to my iMac. I'm wondering, did you try buying a Y cable and seeing if that worked?

I think NI is supply strained right now. The deal had a lot of folks buying. They are probably cutting costs right now and trying to get the things out the door as fast possible. Which is cool, but I know I would be pissed if I bought K9U and got a cheap hard drive and faulty cables. Presentation is important imo no matter what the product is. It shows how seriously a company is taking their product and that have a certain level of standards. As of late I feel like NI is slipping in this regard.

FWIW, I had to use another cable than the Y one and try different ports to get it working on my Macbook Pro.
Did you try that on your iMac too?

I've tried every usb port on the iMac. To clarify: did yours work with just a single usb connection?
