Does it show up on another computer? Tried a different cable?

I would suggest calling NI on the phone. You might have a faulty K9 USB drive.

After quite a bit of back and forth with NI "customer support," and buying my own USB 2.0 micro-B to dual A cable (since they no longer ship the product with the Y-cable even though that is their only documented solution) I finally got "permission" to open my drive enclosure to see if the HDD itself was poorly seated. Turns out this was the case. As soon as I opened the enclosure and pushed the drive forward it was recognized by my MacBook Pro (early 2011) with the cable included with the KU9 drive. If you do this, do it safely, but it might help you out!

There are four screws on the backside of the enclosure. The side that has only NI on it. Touch the screwdriver to some wood and then unscrew all four screws. The drive should be pushed toward the edge of the enclosure that receives the USB cable. It will run whilst open, though some might advise against that. Best of luck.

oh, you must have one of the pretty metal cases, i received one in a plastic case with a photocopy sticker that looks like a punk demo cassette tape from the 80's. it has no screws. as far as i can tell you need some sort of plastic knife tool to open it ( i saw a german vid of a similar model being opened), but without a clue to how, i am not going to try. mine came damaged and loose in the box and though i got it to mount, after a few failed ones, and installed, i was told pretty much "sorry, we don't exchange for cosmetic issues"... which is kind of f*cked up since i have been buying NI software since they began and my concern was of functionality . the ups damage report i filed was also ignored, as the outside box showed damage as well. so i have to go out and purchase a drive and case and take it to a disc duplication facility. all i wanted was the data on a device i can feel confident about - i don't care about the packaging, i would be fine with just the bare hard drive in a brown box and a decal i can put on myself to label the case i put it in...

They let me open the case up, but this time round, no joy in reseating the HDD; it's got to go back... :(
