"The Installer could not install the software because there was no software found to install"

I'm updating from Komplete 7, installing in the same, recommended, folder and installing the content libraries on an external drive. I click "Install", enter my admin password and then I get the error message.

Anyone run into this? Did I get a bad hard drive?

    Thanks!

I believe your problem could be related to the hard drive enclosure. People with this particular problem have had success in 3 ways:

    1. Clone the drive onto another drive (or onto your system drive) and install from there
    2. Change the enclosure of the drive
    3. Keep trying, eventually it will work

Thanks for your suggestions. I created an image of the drive on another drive but I'm getting the same error. I copied it as a "read/write". I'm on a Mac. Is there any important steps I might have missed?

As for changing the enclosure of the drive, that might be out of my realm... Not sure what type, etc...

Still waiting for a response from NI Support...

My solution was found in a thread about the Komplete HD not being recognized. Someone suggested plugging the Komplete HD into a Windows PC and doing a "Safely Remove Hardware" and then re-plugging back in. I didn't get a confirmation message stating it was safe to remove, but I unplugged anyway and plugged back into my Macbook. Everything went smoothly after that.

It doesn't seem to be a common suggestion here, but yeah, try the "Safely Remove Hardware" trick. If you don't have a Windows machine, I believe there's a Mac app to accomplish the same goal.

I have the same problem. I am using MAC 10.9.

I will try to copy the installer onto my desktop.

Did any of you solve it or get a response? I'm not in the mood for the trial and error approach of installing something that cost a lot of money.

Just a quick update. I did get the software to install by copying that 5gb file to my desktop. But trying to get the content installed didn't work. I'm looking in to that...

Edit: And now I've managed to "show hidden files" and I'm copying the gigantic pile that is the content. I hope it works but I won't know for hours.

Looking at the hard drive Ultimate is on I'm kind of not surprised. I was afraid it would break just by looking at it.

Hey guys, any news on that matter? I've been trying to get the install working for hours last night but kept getting the same error message ("The Installer could not install the software because there was no software found to install"). I did get the applications and plugins to install, but not the content. Any help is much appreciated! Thanks a lot..

Oh, btw: I'm running OSX 10.8.5 on a Mac Mini 2,3 GHz i7 Quad Core. Trying to install K9U Upgrade from K9.

Windows PC Worked for Me Too

Thanks for posting this solution. I was experiencing a similar issue with my Mac Mini and was able to solve by plugging the hard drive into a Windows PC and then just unplugging it. I then plugged it back into my Mac and now the installation seems to be working.

Thanks! I confirm this works. Same problem. A quick connection with a Windows PC cured it. Installing now on Mac Pro (2010). Mountain Lion.

I am having the exact same problem, after entering my admins password I get the same message as you guys (but in Swedish). I tried connecting the disk in all the different ways possible (with one of the two cables directly in to the computer, with both in to the computer, one via powered USB hub etc) but with the same result.

Then I tried copying all the files (including the hidden ones) to my internal harddrive using muCommander, and installing from there, but still the same message.

Now I read through this thread and found the "connect to a windows computer and safely remove hardware" tip, and thought it sounded kind of silly, I allways eject the drives in Mac OS before disconecting them, so why would that matter?

But I thought, what the heck, I´ve tried everything else, so I plugged it in to the PC, ejected it, and put it back in to the Mac, and the installer started!

It´s about 30%, or one hour in to the installation at the moment, so I´m hoping for the best!

you can use pacifist or terminal xar -x -f to extract the entire contents to another location and then you may be able to install it that way. pacifist will preserve the permissions. i have had this method work half the time on unsupported computers. vmware should as well work. if you are having these issues though, the usb interface of the hard drive enclosure is might be defective and you should return it. alternatively you can try rebooting and plugging something else in the port as sometimes it thinks a drive is still mounted even when it is not and will reference that if even if you reconnect it. a reboot solves it. it also sounds like the person who duplicated the drives, and you can tell it was done manually, just disconnected without safely ejecting from the pc and corrupted a directory file and when you remounted it, it rewrote the file correctly or remapped a bad sector ( your mac cannot write to this disc without a third party utility) . either way, i would ask for an exchange as this drive or contents is potentially bad. they really should make the contents of it available for download that you can use a master installer to only install the download, or all the downloads if needed.. or offer it as a bare hard drive, no packaging, only option so you can get your own case or use a temp disc interface and save a some forests.

if you have a pc with a utility that checks hard drives like norton, run it on it. you cannot do it on a mac as it is ntsf. if you want to clone the drive, use a pc or do it at the dev level so it just copes all the sectors. if you want it done perfectly, take it to a professional disc duplication place.

Any news here? I got the same issue... But also, the NI HD with Komplete Ultimate sounds strange, with clear and loud "clicks", that worries me - could the HD may be damaged? It is brand NEW - just took it out from the box!!! I'm trying to install on a new iMac.

Not sure why yours sounds weird I don't recall having that problem, but when I got the error about the installer not having the required software, the solution provided earlier worked for me. I just plugged the HD into a windows based PC until it was recognized and then connected it back to my mac and the installer worked.

Thank you tjafri. Well I would have try this already but I don't have a windows based PC.

In the meantime I discovered that I could install everything except the sound libraries by choosing NOT to include the sound libraries in the installation. So I did installed the applications and plug-ins, I could run the Service Center, register, activate, download updates, install updates, and basically everything - except to install the sound libraries. Now I'm stuck with sound libraries and I can't get the installation work. I am running installation file, choosing that I only want to install libraries, click continue, and it work work work for a long time until it's ejected and I got the massage "The Installer could not install the software because there was no software found to install". It really sound strange that the "windows PC" should make a difference?

I can confirm that swapping the drive out into a new enclosure does not help the situation at all.

mount the drive on a windows computer... if that does not work... return it to NI ... NI software pretty much has a lifetime+ warranty regardless of the medium it is on.. that is in your license agreement.. you agree to the terms and NI agrees to provide you with a working copy of it.....works both ways and protects both parties.. in the mean time while you are waiting for the new one, ask them to let you download the k9 regular, you can install that with you k9u serial and as well you can install many of the effects from k9u...

you should not have to use your own case or make a hard drive image of that.

i think NI really should put the individual parts and k9 base as downloads.. most people have enough bandwidth to download files that size. making is all install from only from one central installer is not the best idea, as one can as well put individual installers that reference the same hidden files..

I wrote to NI and they have sent me a new installation drive. (This process of contacting NI and asking for a new drive was very fast and easy).

The installation worked like charm with this new one. So the "old" one was simply damaged or had some sort of a factory failure.
