Will this work as the soundcard for Traktor DJ?

    Thanks!

Ok so for anyone wondering, I hooked up my Harbinger PA to outputs 1 and 2 of my KA6, set it up to monitor outputs 3 and 4 through my headphones and started up Traktor DJ. Cueing works great between the decks, cue volume slider works as expected - no problems at all.

So yes, KA6 is good to go! No need for split-cueing through the headphone jack. Just make sure you have a powered USB hub and you're set.

Nope - no firmware update required. Plug-and-mix.

Just came here to ask about support for this as only A6 and A8 seem to be mentioned anywhere by NI....GREAT news! NI should do themselves a big favour and check/update the list of supported devices.

    Hi!
@empolo: I made the same routing than you with the KA6, but is it possible to assign the Traktor DJ tracks to two tracks on an external mixer?
I would like to use real knobs for the bass/middle/high, same for the crossfader and the pre-listening...
Do you have an idea? Thanks

    Welcome

You can use the headphone output as the second channel and route that to your mixer.
You need to keep the headphone button 'on' for the second channel (deck b) and have the Crossfader assigned fully to deck a.

Works in split stereo mode with a cable. Should work the same with the ka6.

    @Karlos Santos,
    Thanks,
I presume it's something to improve very soon.
Do you know when the update will go out so that we can use the real KA6 potential with the normal 3/4 output instead of the headphone output?

Nope sorry. There is no update to go out yet. This has not been implemented.
I don't usually give that kind of information out but I know a LOT of people are waiting for real external mixing functionality so there is no point in kidding you guys.

I'm hopeful for inclusion in the near future and that simply my assumption, assertion and aspiration. It is not anything official.

that would be a sweet feature!
Maybe there is a feature request threat, we can all post this desired feature?

And I'm allso impressed that the KA6 works like a charm, AND has a whole lot of more Power then the jack on that iPad - well, my gigbag got a lot smaller :D

which remind's me of the Alesis iO Dock - ain't this got two output channels?
And it would supply the iPad with Power?

Sorry for beeing OT - just had an idea :)

I've read it does not supply power to the iPad, but I think i recall reading a thread that you can connect the KA6 and the iPad to a powered USB hub to supply power to each, but I'm not sure. Can the iPad still communicate to the KA6 if both devices are separately connected to a USB powered hub?

Also, I have the opportunity to score a KA6 for under $200, but in the time being I ordered a cheap headphone splitter cable. Could anyone tell me what the main differences will be between the two setups? The headphone splitter will output in mono, yes? Will the KA6 output both channels in stereo? So is sound quality the primary difference here? Also you mentioned the power is greater with the KA6, so are you able to output the sound level at a higher volume?

    @Icaras
Yes the HUB works as a link, each device see the other.
I'm a KA6 owner and it works with this setup:
-Camera Connexion Kit on the Ipad
+ USB cable to the HUB AC powered
-Plug the KA6 USB cable in the HUB
-Plug your headphones directly in the KA6 and choose 3/4 headphones output
-Master output from the KA6 on the 1/2 channel to the mixer or other system.
-In traktor DJ choose the outputs for the master 1/2 & 3/4 for headphones.
-The pre-listening is chosen with the headphones icons directly on TraktorDJ.
The HUB links the Ipad and the KA6 with no problem, but it has to be AC powered that'as all.
The difference is that with a splitter cable, the output is in mono.
With the Griffin DJ cable, the output is in dual-mono (not a real stereo)
With the KA6 it's totally stereo.
For the moment, we can't assign two stereo output channels with 2 cables from the KA6 on an external mixer, the mix is controlled in totality on TraktorDJ - It's one of the requests for many people, we hope for the next update/or version.
-I've got a Nanokey2 plugged on the same HUB, and I can play a synth while the music is playing on Traktor DJ

    It doesn't.

An iPad cannot be charged via the camera kit. It is impossible.

Audiospore: Thank you so much. That was extremely detailed and answered all my questions and concerns. I had initial fears of not being able to charge the iPad but I'm glad to hear about the USB powered hub solution.

Stereo is pretty important to me so I'm thinking about jumping on the KA6 deal...

Great, thanks for the clarification. Will get a hub then.

Just to even clearer, the iPad will not receive any charge at all (through the camerak kit) even if you have your audio card on a USB hub.

A powered hub is a good idea so that the iPad doesn't have to power the audio card. It will help but it won't charge the iPad.

    and there's our problem...

but (!), I found this, and it could - I repeat, could be a solution to use a external Audiodevice, AND supply the pad with enough power.

well, I'm off to order me that thing - I'll let you know if it works :D

PS: sorry for the German Amazonlink, to lazy to search for a "global" Link :D

Interesting. I have seen similar units but none that have micro usb.
Micro USB 'can' supply power. Maybe this will charge and output audio?

Let us know how you get on with it please.
