    Re: no problems with it

Umm... "small financial risk"? $339US is a lot of money to me. That's 56 days of food, or three months of car insurance, or 4000 miles worth of gas, 9 months of dental insurance, or any other number of things that cause my wallet to cringe. We aren't all made of money, some of us are struggling musicians, single-income workers, teachers, or in my case a wrist-injured (unemployed) programmer. Perhaps the rest of the world, and in particular German businesses like NI, are out of touch with the actual financial situation that the majority of Americans (and probably everyone else in every other country) are currently experiencing. America may be wealthy, but that wealth is not in the hands of the majority. Most of us can't just casually throw $339 at vaporware.

none forces you - the „old” products are good enough to stay with them

yeah ive just been thinking the same thing, I dont even use all the features in the software ive got, in fact I dont think id ever use it to its limit ever. The only thing I want is better sound quality, I think NI's filters need to get better + I would like to hear better anti aliasing on NI's products.

In the short-term, you're right. However the masses, and my inherent creativity, force me to update for the long term. When a new Reaktor is released, development of ensembles for the old Reaktor are stopped in their tracks. After a while, I'd be the only one building ensembles for it, and I wouldn't be able to code new ensembles enough to create cutting-edge sounds. What's more, when a new OS is released (such as Windows Longhorn which is scheduled for release later this year or next), all of the sudden my old version of Reaktor might never work again. Is NI going to support an older version of Reaktor? Not unless they suddenly turn from a business into a charity.

I am an amateur song writer using Cubase SX3. I bought Absynth. Some time later FM7. Both are great VSTis. I love them!

When the NI Komplete 2 LTO was available I sold my FM7 for 150 euros and bought Komplete 2. I took a chance ... and yes, I think Reaktor 4 was worth the extra money!

But, I have never used much of the rest. For sample playing I have HALion2 wich is the best performing sample player so far! ;-)

Well, even if I am a Absynth, FM7 and Reaktor user I don´t know if Absynth 3 is worth paying for. The "surround" thing is for movie composers or experimenters. Stereo and mono are and will be the ways we are listening to music! If I should gamble and put in 299 euros and get surround versions of the old VSTis it would really be a loss, worth nothing, a loss.

Maybe it is obvious ... I am not a Komplete Care gambler. I don´t know what I need, more than what I´ve got! Again ... Absynth, FM7 and Reaktor are great ... but I am not in for the NI Katze Sack races!

So, NI please, tell us what you are trying to sell to us!!!

    Sture

    I Got the Dice Fever

Hmm... maybe I'm just tired (3:43am), but this morning I actually feel like it would be fun to gamble $350. It would be like going to Vegas every day between now and the end of 2005. All I have to do is just picture slot machines and showgirls every time I open my mailbox.

    Update Price

Well, I'm a goof for looking at the NI price of the upgrade. I've found it for less on the 3rd party retailer sites, so now I'm not going to complain quite as much.

    ...

i think, ni knows about the core products of komplete and so they should know which updates are most attractive to their users...anyway - i guess, for those who use many programms of komplete, the komplete care offer should be worth buying.
