    Hi,
I am VERY new to this technology. I purchased a Komplete Kontrol A25 Keyboard.
I am intending to use this MIDI keyboard with my Mac and Logic Pro X.
I would like to know what would be the minimum installation requirements to get my A25 to work with Logic Pro X and then go from there.
Any advice / suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

    Regards,
    Jim P.

I would suggest of course native access, then register it and then komplete kontrol is absolutely necessary. Then you can go from there and add more as you like. But without nks ready instruments, as provided with the keyboard, komplete kontrol makes maybe not that much sense. You can of course open your own plugins inside + fx chains and save that as user presets, then you can browse and operate them from the keyboard. But the stuff you get with it can give you an idea of the potential of all that.

Thanks for your response. My knowledge is at the beginner level, so some of the things that have been mentioned are a bit over my head. I probably need to understand the functions of the keyboard itself. Is there a video reference to how to use Komplete Kontrol A25 for "dummies"?

    https://www.native-instruments.com/en/a-series-quickstart/

Maybe start here - you have to know that komplete kontrol is a vst that can host other vsts, so you can control them all with the 8 knobs and several knob pages, the mappings to control them are stored within komplete kontrol. Plus you can save and browse sounds from the keyboard too, no matter what instrument/vst - lets say you look for a bass sound, komplete kontrol will show you all bass sounds no matter if it's from monark or kontakt. That makes creation a lot easier, in the past you had to open monark - look for a sound, then maybe kontakt - look for a sound. But like I said komplete kontrol does sort it for you brosable from the keyboard. Once you get used to it you will love it.

Could you provide a little more explanation of your comment, above?

    What are nks ready instruments?

What is meant by "open your own plug-ins inside + fx chains?

I'm trying to get an understanding of what is available to me in Native Access and what I MUST download to start.

    Thanks,

    Jim P.

Maybe that helps a bit, if I have time tomorrow I can try to describe it better if the Video is not helpful for you. What do you already know, do you have knowledge about midi and automation in daws, what a vst plugin is and what a Preset is? If not I have to start from sero,, that's why I want to know it.

As I stated, I am a complete novice. I am interested in learning how to compose music using Logic Pro and simplifying the task using a MIDI keyboard.

All the "additional" things that come with Native Access to be used by the A25 are new to me. I see that there are applications and plug-ins, etc., but not sure how to tell the difference when trying to determine what to download using Native Access and what their intent is.

Ordering a Native Instrument A25 was recommended to me by my music instructor to simplify entering MIDI tracks into Apple Logic Pro X

Videos are great, but I'm having trouble finding one that is for a "pure beginner" (often using terminology in the first 30 seconds), that is foreign to me.

Appreciate you taking time to direct me to the best instructional path.

    Regards,
    Jim P.

Has your keyboard arrived, I thought about it, how to explain it easier but I can't explain it much better.
I could only add something about a mapping, it's basically that your virtual instrument knows, if a signal from a knob on your keyboard comes in (you turn it) what you want to control with. And native has made that easier with komplete kontrol. If your keyboard is on your desk start with the quick start guide and look for some videos, maybe it takes some time to find one that is for beginners.
