    Hi all,

I have got a Komplete Kontrol A49 controller with a problem on the display. It is a reconditioned unit from Amazon, described as in very good condition, but has clearly burned its display on the standard "Template 1 Midi Mode" so, whenever other messages are shown, any point which is used on that message is clearly lower on brightness.

I think it is an OLED display and I wonder if someone else has found a similar problem. Perhaps this keyboard has been ages on that display but, anyway, it is not nice that the display of a modern device could be burned that way.

Please, let me know in case you have found same problem on any similar display (used on A series and also on the M32, AFAIK)

    Stay safe!

    Jose

I know it's been a while, but I just encountered this problem on my M32. It sucks that NI sets these devices (with OLED displays) to display a static message when the keyboard is plugged in but not in use. I think that:

    1. They should use an LCD screen instead of an OLED for this purpose.
    2. If they are going to continue using OLED screens, they should include a clear and prominent warning to users not to leave the device plugged in and/or put a power switch on the device so that it can be turned off when not in use.

Maybe a 'screen saver' of sorts should be included in the firmware, being activated in the same way as for a computer.

I notice on my Machine mk3 and S1 keyboard, the screens stay active even after my computer goes to sleep. Displaying static images like "MASCHINE" ... CC13 ... etc. I need to turn the NI devices off using their physical off button.

I guess another way would be to disable USB power always on, but still ... I'm surprised there is no screen saver or energy saving auto-off on them.

Yeah, same here. That's how my screen wound up getting burned in.

Another problem is that the A and M series keyboards don't have a physical off button. I now unplug mine after every use, but it's really silly (and unintuitive) to have to do that when you have the controller set up as part of a permanent workstation (as I do).

Both my devices are also USB powered. My problem is I can not figure out how to de-activate always on power for USB on my Win10 system.

Thanks for informing about the problem, I was wondering about the importance of turning the screens totally off, now I know. Out of curiosity, do you have a screen shot of the problem to share ?

I haven't taken a picture of mine, but there's a screenshot here (provided by Lempface) which shows wear similar to my screen. Mine is perhaps a little worse.
