    Hi,

I picked up the Komplte Kontrol S88 and its pretty sweet! I think I am running into an issue though. when I run it in Cubase, should Komplete Kontrol show as instruments in Cubase? it seems to only give me the option for Kontakt 5 and when I use that it doesn't seem to jive with the keyboard (light up keyswitches and ability to adjust parameters) as I was expecting and is missing all the Rreaktor and Massive instruments.

Ironically too with an 88 key keyboard, when I had session horns loaded the key switches were still an octave too low to reach. go figure. it seems to work good with the complete control as a stand alone (lit up key switched and reactor and massive instruments) but that doesn't seem to be an option in Cubase. so I'm wondering if something went awry.

I went through the default installation which the manual seemed to think would work.

also another thing is all the transport buttons seem to work with the exception of the record button. i thought that was odd and am hoping that is an an easy fix

    Any suggestions?

    Thanks in advance
    Joe

actually I did get Record to work from the KK somehow, so that's cool. They should have added a delete button. I'm not so much a first take player on the keys so I still have to reach over and hit backspace a lot. haha! any feedback on the complete control replacing Kontakt I would really dig.

    Thanks!

    Hi Joe

Glad that you are enjoying your S88 so far!

If you use Cubase 8.5.2 or higher, there are a number of extended controls available from the S88 hardware. These are detailed in this article: https://support.native-instruments....-Steinberg-Cubase-Nuendo-for-KOMPLETE-KONTROL

When in your Cubase session, you need to load Komplete Kontrol as a VST Plug-in on every relevant track. You can then browse and adjust sounds, use the Light Guide, etc. There is also a Hardware Browse mode if you prefer to only use the S88's displays - this is enabled in Komplete Kontrol's Preferences.

    I hope the this helps!

    Best,
    Tim

Thanks Tim. I'm using cubase 7.5. When I select an instrument Komplete Kontrol is not an option. Just Kontakt 5. Did I miss a step I can do to add it as a plug in?

Thanks, I'll check that out. I have to update to 8.5. So it may just be that the folder it installed into is not being recognized by Cubase? Hoping it's that easy. I appreciate te help!

On a sidenote, other than using it as a standalone is there any reason I would need reaktor or massive? Or does KK cover those as a plug-in? they installed when I installed Komplete 11 bundle as desktop shortcuts, so I wasn't sure if I should be loading those as plugins or if KK kind of is a one stop shop for it all

Shift left arrow is exactly what I was looking for, thanks! Working on getting it to recognize the plug in. It's taking a while and had an error message which isn't good but hoping that was unrelated. now it seems stuck in a fax plug in (odd). Might just restart the computer and let it start over.

oh yeah! that works, thank you! all the other plug in appeared automatically after installation but that may be because they were in Kontakt (or a Steinberg instrument). also to answer my other question above, I see that Reaktor and Massve are now available along with KK. so that was all in the same step/folder

After a few failed attempts here's something that might help the next person in this situation -
If you aren't sure of the folder to add in Cubase -
    Open Native Access
    Choose Komplete Kontrol
on that side window that pulls over choose Installation path and that will tell you where the plug in is located so you know what folder to add.

Initially I went and added the programs -> x86 folder (sounded like that was the default one to add after reading the article) but that holds all the plug ins for the entire computer (except any needed for Cubase apparently) and it was a bit of a mess (freezing, error messages, etc)

Once I had the correct folder it was a breeze

that Native Access program is a nice addition to keep track of all the NI stuff.

Thanks again Tim, I really appreciate the help!
