I'm posting here to keep the issue that plagues several us in the front of the queue. There seems to be no solution to this problem from what I can find using several search terms.

Namely - Komplete Kontrol DAW is not available in midi specifications section of Ableton 11
Transport control of Ableton 11 is non-functional from the keyboard.

My specific instance involves Ableton Live 11 and an NI s61 mk2 in windows but I have seen others suffering the same fate in m version midi keyboards.

Ableton Live has a preferences section where you can designate control surfaces and specify input and output sources to enable transport control and use of buttons and knobs.

When I set up the control surface for my s-series mk2 it is clearly visible
    upload_2021-9-11_11-39-55.png

Then when I go to set up the input and output options to be Komplete Kontrol Daw - as suggested in A L L of native instruments support documents - it is not there.

    upload_2021-9-11_11-41-0.png

Selecting either the -1 or the EXT - 1 does nothing. Selecting NONE does nothing. All transport controls are useless.

VERY IRONICALLY - all other midi buttons and knobs on the keyboard can be clearly mapped through Ableton midi mapping... So I can map start, stop, and record to some control buttons - perhaps even undo if I explored that more... the irony is that they CANNOT be mapped to the actual transport buttons on the keyboard - those appear to be reserved - and under the current circumstances - useless.

Yes, I've tried removing the battery, reinserting the battery and rebooting the phone... oh wait...

    Yes I have tried:
    -rebooting computer
    -restarting ableton
-unplugging Push 2 and repeating the above 2 steps
-checking to make sure all control surfaces are cleaning connected via usb
-checking and restarting the NIHostIntegrationAgent in services
-tweaking the user configuration files as suggested in some videos
    upload_2021-9-11_11-51-54.png

I'm sure there is a fix for this problem and it would be great if it came from NI official folks and published somewhere in the forums (or perhaps it is already there and I'm not seeing it).

    Any help appreciated.
    Thanks

After about 6 hours I finally uninstalled komplete kontrol application software (not all the plugins just the KK application itself. Then reinstalled it through native access. That seemed to fix the problem (but not before my s61 mk2 bricked on bootup - pretty scary stuff for the money we spend). Good luck and I'll post here again if it crashes again.

Cost doesn’t equal free from potential issues. We are dealing with personal computers that differ wildly between each environment and in some cases, the environment isn’t always that suitably kept for running reliably. Sometimes things don’t work immediately, needs patience and a bit of investigating but often people just attribute cost to expectation it is 100% plug-n-play in every case

Right...and sometimes they worked yesterday and then don't work today until after you Uninstall and reinstall software. Glad I don't rely on this equipment to pay my bills.

Fair enough, All I can say is I have used both the MK1 and MK2 since 2015 and never had an issue. Prob something is stopping the NIHostIntegration service

Hi, I've got the same problem. I reinstall Kontrol and it fixes the issue. Next day I reboot and the problem has resurfaced.

Not the "Same" issue as the OP is on Windows, you are on M1 macOS which M1 is not yet supported so that is probably half your issue. And no, there is no ETA on when it will be supported that we know of but being a mac user I am sure you are already adept to waiting for things to become compatible.

Was there any need for such a sarcastic reply? Its identical symptoms and exactly the same 'fix', so highly likely a similar underlying issue and makes sense to report it.

Just because it is the same symptom it does not mean it's the same problem. As mentioned, you are on an M1 chip (while OP is on windows) which as of current is not officially supported so that could be part of the issue.

If it was the same issue I would say to check Task Manager for the running process and if not running then check the Services program in Windows to see if it is set to manual/auto and start it, or at least check that all hardware is discovered and active in device manager.... but none of that applies to mac so this is why I said it is not the same issue specifically.

Nitpicking over my use of the word 'same' isn't adding any value. I am reporting identical (same) symptoms not trying to self-diagnose the root cause problem, that should be obvious to anyone reading. Macs also run processes, services and have a device manager equivalent. No evidence of services failing to start, but I can reproduce the problem at will each time I reboot. I guess I'll keep digging.

No, as someone who has handled support for 25 years it is not "nitpicking" it is assisting future users who do not know what they are reading to understand that while someone has an issue because of possibly a failed install, non running service or actual install fault, another who has a seemingly "similar" issue could simply be because they are on an OS version that is not yet officially supported by the software, regardless if others may have things working if you were asking me in a support department first answer I would give is "That OS is not yet supported" and that would be the end of the conversation until it is supported.

Sorry if it appears pedantic and nitpicky but overall users are not terribly good at understanding things or self education so making sure the info that IS available is as complete in detail as possible is important as this question will be here for eternity.

I clearly stated that I have a different operating system than the original poster but the same symptoms and method for fixing.
You haven't added any value by repeatedly pointing out this difference in every subsequent post.

I'm simply reporting an issue that I am experiencing that is very similar. I'm sure that the vast majority of people that frequent this forum are perfectly able to 'know what they are reading', how patronising.

If anything, you've derailed the thread from the start with pedantic nonsense that will make it more difficult for others to find the pertinent information. Why would anyone reading care what you would have to say to me in some hyperthetical situation in a 'support department'? Do you really think your sarcastic jibe about Mac users is in anyway 'important' or worthy of being immortalised in text for eternity?

It seems to me you are less concerned with helping out the users (that you seem to have such a low opinion of) and more with feeding some sort of weird superiority complex. You should consider getting a hobby that doesn't involve IT support, get out a little maybe.

Fair enough kid, I think you are derailing the train even further but have at it if you are going to get all snarky and personal about things, enjoy your problems there.

‘Kid’ .. hardly. But I won’t make any lame appeal to authority crowing about how many years experience I have.

Being expected to endure your passive-aggressive patronising nonsense is no less ‘personal’.

‘Enjoy your problems’ Says everything about you. don’t worry I’ll leave you to your little thiefdom now and I have no urge to ever return.

No need to argue over this or take such discussions so personally.

mrkeeny It's true that your issue might have a different root cause if you are using a different OS / system, especially if you're on something that we don't officially support yet. I would suggest in this case to either contact our support or simply create a new thread.

JesterMgee I have to say that the tone was a little bit unnecessary. You been around for long enough, you know how it is ;)

Please keep it civil and friendly in the future
