    Hi Everyone.

I'm awaiting delivery of a KK s61 keyboard and am doing some prior research / homework.

There is a sticky thread in here stating that Komplete Kontrol series keyboards, hardware and plug-ins should all be run for the first time in "standalone mode". Ok, I know what standalone mode means but could do with some further info. Does this mean that the keyboard should not be integrated with the rest of the system until all correct software is installed? Or is there another, more sinister explanation?

Like the rest of us, when we're doing even a minor upgrade, I'm routinely terrified by the prospect of adding a component and the whole thing going pear-shaped.

Any comment, pointer or help would be greatly appreciated.

    Many thanks

    Nick

It means, that it makes sense to start every Komplete instrument, that has it's own icon first and configure it. Then do the same with the standalone version of Kontrol. After that I had zero issues in Kontrol standalone or it's plugin in the DAW, both on Windows and OSX.

PS: The first thing I did on Windows, was installing the keyboard driver and updating the keyboard's firmware, then I installed Komplete and at last Kontrol.

If you have any Kontakt instruments you have to first start Kontakt in standalone mode. You'll want to make sure that all your Kontakt instruments are showing in the browser. If they're not all showing you'll want to make sure your software is up to date.
