Anyone use BOTH a synth action and a weighted keyboard? I have a really cheap keyboard at the moment. I’m considering buying kk mk2 61 now and then getting the 88 key when it’s out. That way if something is released I will have both a synth-action and a weighted keyboard.

He didn't do his homework apparently, bought the MKII thinking it was going to have deep integration with his DAW, turns out there isn't deep integration for his DAW which effectively makes the MKII less useful than a MKI as the transport controls don't even work.

I don't think anyone doubts that there will be one when NI are good and ready, just that going on about it here is going to have any influence on NI. At the very least they need to get the midi stuff in place first.

They really do. I am speaking as an owner of the S61 MK2 - which I sold the MK1 S61 to buy. But, I just posted that to show there is hope for those interested in the 88. I'm not making an argument for against or anything.

Waiting for the S88 mkII..... hoping they add faders instead or in addition to knobs.

That wont happen. It will be the same layout as the others. Faders instead of encoders isn't a good move since unless they are touch (shit_ or motorised (expensive) they wont update positions automatically like an endeless encoder.

I am seriously considering picking it up the KK 61 MK2 week, as I only have a very cheap old keyboard that makes certain things difficult to play properly. However I do see that the 88 key is likely coming out at some point this year. I am curious what your thoughts are on owning both midi controllers since you already own a 61 key FATAR action keyboard(KK MK2). I'm thinking FATAR is best for stuff like smears and rakes for example( )
, though 88 keys are best for piano sounds.

Will you keep your 61 key and then get a two tier stand for your keyboards? You'd also get the benefit of being able to control many different sounds at once.

I too am interested in the S88 MKII. Thinking to use it mostly for piano sounds, and pair it with an S61 MKII. I have Ultimate, so it makes more sense than the Novation keys I have been using. Since 2 of the 3 keyboards have been upgraded to MK II, it seems a no-brainer to wait for S88 MKII. Therefore, NI should go ahead and release it since we know better than to buy a MKI at this point. :)

Currently I use my Korg M3 61 as a controller. I have an upright piano in my house that I enjoy playing and I would like to have the feel of the keys be more authentic with an 88 key controller which is why I'd like to upgrade from the M3. The Korg does very well to control massive as it has 8 sliders that I can control parameters with but I think at the end of the day since I use Komplete 11, having the matching controller to have the full integration with the program would be good for me. A nice keybed which matches that of an acoustic piano and has wheels for pitch/mod instead of the ribbon controller. The Korg has a ribbon controller and I never use it except for strumming a guitar patch. Perhaps NI could include one ribbon controller and the normal pitch/mod wheels. That would probably be worth while. I look forward to seeing a S88 MKII coming out. I would buy it. In fact I recently put off purchasing the MKI because I saw the 49 and 61s being updated. I bought the Maschine MK3 instead, because I didn't have anything like that. Still learning how to use it to it's full potential tbh. I'm relatively new to NI products. I've always used reason and Pro Tools.

Well, something is happening over there at NI. Komplete products are on a pretty good sale right now and if history is correct, very soon we should be seeing the Komplete 12 suite. Ultimate 11 upgrade was 299.50 instead of the 599.99 and I think it’s safe to assume that they are making sales in preparation for the new Komplete package. I sure hope they release the S88 MK2 soon.

Hurry up with the Mk2. I want to use my keyboard to go through sounds. The Mk 1 has become a pain to use for me.

Waiting so long for S88 mk2, could not stand AKAI MPK61 any more. Please hurry with the refresh! And if Universal Audio releases UAD-3 Satellites and new Apollo interfaces, this year will be awesome ...

I am also waiting to invest in a s88 mk2...I take piano lessons for the moment on a MIDI keyboard 49 keys ... it would be time to change.

With an internal dsp, memory and some piano kontakt loaded on board I would be filled. I think it would be a nice evolution for this keyboard in particular which would become really really interesting in many ways.

I’m waiting on the 88. Will not buy the 61. So, if they take forever, guess I won’t be a customer.

I heard that, S88 is anyway one of their best seller, so they are not in a rush to launch MKII.. Like most of you, I will only buy weighted hammer S88 MKII. I guess S25 MK ii is round the corner and our wait is going to be longer..

Obviously not any more as majority of us know S88 mk2 version is around the corner which put them on the pressure to release it sooner rather than later. Recently price was drop from 999 to 799 EUR for this three years old keyboard. S25 mk2 is nice addition to this great series of controller keyboards.

A price drop indicates to me that they are dumping stock of the mark1 to prepare for the markii launch since once its out it will be super hard to sell the marki backstock. I just wish they would communicate better about it!
