So I finally reached retirement and treated myself to a few new toys including the Kontrol S Keyboard a nice new 4k 58" TV and upgraded my computers to enjoy 4k gaming and its easier on the eyes than 1080 and gives you significantly more workspace to play with in theory.

BUT when I open Native apps there so bleeding small. I have all this real estate on my screen and the apps cannot be resized to take full advantage of it. Why cannot Kontakt or kontrol be opened in a full screen mode? I have to change my beautiful 4k screen to text at 125% cos at 100 its simply a complete joke and 125 isnt to hot either. So I gain almost nothing over 1080 moving to 4k????
Yes Kontakt sort of works but really its a poor attempt and as far as I can tell Kontrol screen cannot be changed at all. as for the option to resize the gui of plugins in Kontrol, aaaaugh yes it loves that NOT

Font sizes in NI products have been ridiculous for the last decade, I‘m afraid it‘s also partly Apple fault for the lack of proper enlarged base system fonts at the OS level.

The same problem is true on Windows though.

I am actually using Windows 10x64, not that the version matters much as they will all have have the same issue. All it needs is a drop down menu to resize, something like 50%, 100% 150% and 200%. I do realise its down to fonts pngs and gui templates, but really, does it need to be so small in an age when 4k will become the norm

Wishful thinking, but a vector-based UI would be awesome.

    ?
    No, not at all.
Both macOS and Windows have scaling options, so you can "enlarge" things to your heart's content... but if you choose to scale things up than you end up with a blurry GUI for NI products.
The OS itself and all apps that support hi-res will still look sharp but apps that dont support hi-res like 99% of NI's offerings will look like a mess, it's the application developers who have to add hi-res support, there's nothing Apple or Microsoft can do about it.

The only NI instrument I can think of that is scalable is Massive X.

For the Font size there is a way to change it, but it's a very "Hacky" approach

NI could at least make the font size configurable within a small margin while we wait for proper hi-res support.

Yeah there are loads of simple improvements they could make.... We know full well by now that they won't tho. 5 years of waiting for simple things like this has proven that already.

It’s as if they deliberately made the GUI as bad as possible to encourage people to buy the S-series keyboards.

Works fine in 1440p which is best setting for most DAWS. No, they made the GUI small so you would have to send them holiday treats for a 2x pixel doubler mode.

1440p is a little silly when you have 40+ inches and I am sure some are even over 60 (some of us are getting close). I even bought a touch screen tablet to use, its still in its box unopened unused !! Not to worry I know it will work with the Wing and I plan on buying one after xmas.

This is how you do it (apollogees for quick translation from Swedish)

    - Right click the DAW´s icon / click Properties / click Compatibility Tab / change settings for "High DPI "/ Check boxes for "Program-DPI" and "Set High DPI-scaling aside executed by..." (and choose "System" in the roll-out menu) / click OK. Restart whatever DAW you have and NI tabs appear nice and large.

I realize this post is over a year old, but this is the thread I got to when searching for a solution to this problem. So I figured a solution here might do some good... hope it works for you too :)
