I recently bought Komplete (not Ultimate). What is the rule of thumb when it comes to new Komplete Ultimate releases, are every product that NI has released to that date included in Ultimate? Or are there products that are not included?

The reason I ask is because I really want to get Session horns Pro, but maybe I should wait for the next Ultimate release if that is going to be included there.

The individual products in Komplete 9 and Komplete 9 Ultimate are listed here:
    http://www.native-instruments.com/en/products/komplete/bundles/komplete-9/k9-vs-k9u/

As far as I know no other products will be added.

Komplete 10 and Komplete 10 Ultimate, if there are released, would include different products. But not necessarily everything produced by NI. You would, I expect, be able to Upgrade from Komplete 9.

As for Session Horns, it is included in Komplete Ultimate 9, but that is not the Pro edition. Pro may or may not be in a future version of Komplete (Ultimate).

    Hope that helps.

Products don't usually get added to existing Komplete bundles. So new products (like Session Horns Pro) won't be included automatically.

There's a decent chance it might be part of the *next* Komplete bundle (that's usually how they do it).

But none of this should be taken as a promise. :)

NI has three product lines: Komplete, Maschine, and Traktor. Komplete Ultimate is a snapshot of the entire Komplete product line as of a specific date around release time. As a rule, new products released after the Ultimate release date are not included in the bundle, although every once in a while NI gives Komplete owners a freebie or a major upgrade (like when the Abbey Road Drums instruments were upgraded to the more full-featured Drummer products).

I maintain a comparison of all versions of Komplete that have been released. You can see that Komplete 9 Ultimate is not only the biggest collection they've ever released, it's also among the best deals (in terms of good products per dollar) in the industry.

Also, Session Horns Pro will almost certainly be in the next Komplete Ultimate. NI knows many of their customers take the "wait for the next Ultimate" approach, and so far it's always been worth it.

    Thanks guys!

Yes I know that. Just wondering if every new NI product at that point in time, the release date, are included in the new Ultimate. I understand that products released after a new Ultimate will not be included (but hopefully in the next version). I guess no one can know for sure. I also think there is a big chance they will include Session horns pro in the next version. Hopefully they will release a new Ultimate later this year. Guess I have to wait... :)

Cool spread sheet btw, UltimateOutsider!

Does anyone know if the upgrade price will be the same from v9 to v10 as from an older version of Komplete, let's say from v3 to v10? As I understand, right now, the price is the same when upgrading from v8 to current v9, as from v2 to v9. I find this a bit strange. I think it should be cheaper to upgrade from the latest version to a new version, and maybe a bit more expensive to upgrade from a really old version. But that's just me.

That's what I meant by "Komplete Ultimate is a snapshot of the entire Komplete product line as of a specific date around release time."

Yes, to date it's been everything (which actually pleasantly surprised me with the Heavyocity products in K9U), which is why I'm holding out for K10U, personally.

There have only been two "ultimate" releases so far though. NI can and will surprise us from time to time.
