    dear folks,

i have just received by Komplete 7 UPDATE package.

i would like to set up my computer with a new fresh win xp installation.

regarding the activation of komplete 7:

do i have to install komplete 6 and activate it prior to the komplete 7 installation to be able to activate komplete 7?

in other words: the service center now shows my active komplete 6 registration. if i install komplete 7 on a new clean windows installation will the service center accept the update serial and activate komplete 7 if i have not installed and activated komplete 6 again?

i hope so, as i do not want to spend so many hours installing so many dvds :)

and: komplete 6 was an update itself from kontakt 4, so ...

thanks in advance for any advise :)

    regards, martin

I hope you get an authoritative answer to this.

So, Kontakt 4 and Komplete 6 (upgrade) are both registered on your NI Account.

I think I would install the Komplete 7 update only and try to Activate it. What's the worst that could happen? ;) The Activation fails and you have to install Komplete 6 or Kontakt 4 or both.

But you might want to wait for confirmation.

In any case, make a full image back-up of your disk(s) before you start.

I'm installing K7 upgrade right now and I don't have K6 installed on this disk; I'm on Vista now and the old K6 is on a removed XP disk and it was registered while on there.
So far no issues and when the 12 DVD install  is done I might be able to tell you if it worked!

It's done, after only 5 hours.

Darkstar is right, just install the upgrade on its own and activate.

i have been up all night changing dvds :) since i fell asleep between the changes, i am still not (but almost) finished *rofl*

oh, boy, that sure is a lot of data ... :D

    thx for your responses :)

    EDIT:

oh, the moment of truth: installation has jus finished on my clean fresh win install and opening the service center. - yes, service center says all products activated. now to test it :)

yes, kontakt stars smoothly. everything seems fine so far.

but if you excuse me now, i have to get some sleep ;-)

This forum is filled with issues of failed and unresolved installations....faulty disks, replaced disks, faulty software, bugs, patches and incompatibilities.
Why I continued to think the Kore concept and Komplete products and sounds was worth all that wasted time and money is beyond me!

    lol :)

i am still installing the various additional packs (kore packs, plugins etc) and so far had no problem neither with disks, downloaded packs or (re)activation. guess i'm lucky :)

welly well: NEVER surf youtube while installing ... because if firefox crashes and takes down your computer while you are installing THE LAST dvd of 4 ... you WILL get mad ;-)

for such huge products like komlete, kontakt or session strings pro ni should really make installers that realize if a file has already been copied to the hard drive (md5 fingerprints should do the trick nicely) ...

You can do it either way. If you have K6 already installed, it just uninstalls the existing version and installs the K7 version. If you uninstall K6 first, then K7 just installs as normal. I've done it both ways and it installed and activated without any problems.
