How do you MIDI map your maschine midi controller with Kong drum designer in Reason 5?

Does anyone have template? Or can someone point me to a direction which I manually can do it?

    Thanks

i don't own Reason 5 but if Kong's knobs/faders have MIDI learn, then it is extremely easy to assign Maschine knobs to them.

if you open the Controller Editor App, it is also easy to see which Controllers numbers are Default Patch has.

Reason always has a midi manual addendum.
You can check wich cc's control the exact knob/parameter, and assign that to the template in maschine

if you just wanna use the pads then the ableton template for drum racks works just fine.

Okay I got it to work by following these steps:

    1. Add generic midi controller (<other> in Keyboard and control surfaces) and choose "midi control keyboard". Set the MIDI input to MASCHINE.

    2. Hold SHIFT+CONTROL on your Machine controller and be sure it says "Template 01 - New Template" on the left display. And Push, C in the "GROUPS" section on your Maschine controller.

If it doesnt say "Template 01 - New Template" on the left display. Hold SHIFT and use the LEFT ARROW and RIGHT ARROW in upper left corner (under BROWSE and SAMPLING Buttons) until you reach it.

    Its on the propellerheads forum.

You can use note repeat if you run maschine inside Kore.

If you fire up Maschine software through Kore, you get all the Maschine software features plus the ability to play Kong. You have to:

send midi notes out from each sound in Maschine
transpose the midi notes received in Kore from Maschine to align with Kong pads (use Kore's midi transformer for this)
send midi clock from Kore to control tempo in Reason/Record

Once you have this running you can do all kinds of really cool stuff.

Does anyone have a link to where I can assign 'maschine' midi controllers knobs and buttons to other parameters of reason?

    Thanks.

    Hey, I figured it out...

It helps if you open up the controller editor software that comes with Maschine... I created this template for Reason 4, specifically for using Redrum.

I mapped the Play button for channels 1-10 in Redrum to pads 1-10.
Pressing Play on Maschine will run the pattern.

To edit, in Reason, under the Options Menu (Mac OSX), select Remote Edit Override Mode. Right click on the item you want to change and select Edit.

On Control Surface, select Maschine (Assuming you've already set it up as a surface as described earlier).

Check the box to Learn From Control Surface Input.

Hit the key or knob or pad you want to use and it will automatically map it.

Setup Instructions for Maschine Controlling Kong

I read all the posts and i still couldn't get Maschine pads controlling Kong. There are a couple of things you have to do to make it happen so you aren't pulling out your hair like I was. Here is what worked for me.

Step by step instructions for controlling Kong with Maschine..

    1. setup maschine as a controller device in the midi preferences "keyboards and Controllers" setup section of Reason.
    2. Once you have it in there (it will show a picture of an Audio Kontrol 1 no matter what NI device you are adding) then click on the "edit" button.
    3. Then click "find" and hit a pad on your Maschine. If Reason recognizes it then your Maschine will show up on the "In Port"
    4. Now go to the Advanced settings and make sure your Maschine is set up on one external control busses (A,B,C, or D)
    5. Now close the preferences and go to the very top panel in Reason on the rack
    3. click the "advanced midi" tab on the far right
    4. make sure the bus selected (A,B,C, or D) has "maschine input port 0" as the input device
    5. Then go to the Advanced Midi Device section below. Put the device you want to control in "channel 1" so for instance if you want to control Kong, put "Kong1 In" in the channel one box.
    6. Of course make sure you have a Kong device open with sounds in it and you have the right track selected on the sequencer.
    7. If you don't hear anything then try out different group letters on your Maschine as they control which octave you are playing. For me it works in "Group C"

Now, hopefully you are controlling Kong in real time from the awesome maschine pads. Siiick! Together these two things ate my old MPC for breakfast.

    best,
    VonStroke
