When you load in a instruments in kontakt..
for example.. if I load in a piano, it will be assign to "midi ch (A) 1"

if I load in another instrument under the piano, then that instrument will be assigned to
    "midi ch (A) 2"

but when I high light the other instrument to play with my midi controller, it will only play the piano because it's in midi ch (A) 1

I watched a tutorial where the guy had 2 instruments loaded in kontakt, and played them seperately by just clicking on the instrument header..

how is this done.. and what settings do I have to change?

That can be reproduced by using the Kontakt keyboard for auditioning sounds

yea... I think I figured it out actually..
in the tutorial i was watching I didn't realise that he was using his mouse to audition the sounds... I thought he was using his midi controller..

I guess when I want to play the sounds seperately I can just solo one of the instruments..

    thanks for your quick reply

The best way to play instruments separately is to switch the active MIDI channel on your MIDI controller.

Is there a function to change this behavior? For example, creating every new instrument on the same channel?

Not QUITE the same, but in Options you have a property which can set all loaded instruments to Omni (listen to all channels) instead of setting each new instrument to next free MIDI channel. I have forgot the exact place where it is in Options, but there aren't many options to sweep through, anyways :)
