Kontakt 2.2 Authorization workaround

    I am having the same problem with activating both Kontakt2 and Reaktor5. Service Center says that they validate when I go through the process, but neither product validates. My machine is a G5 Dual 2.5 Ghz running OS X 10.4.8. I am able to run the previous versions of Kontakt2 (2.11, but not as an AU since that won't validate in Logic) and Reaktor 5 (5.1.1) (runs as an AU). I have the Komplete 4 supplement to Komplete 3 upgrade. I sent an email via the registration support page and included a gif file of screen shots.

    I did not have this problem with either the Guitar Rig 2.2 update or the Traktor 3.1.3 update.

    Markus, I already did that but it won't work after installation.

    What I did to get it work was:

    1. De-installation of NI-Service-Center
    2. Deleted NI-Service-Center directory under programs directory
    3. Deleted D:\WINDOWS\system32\Macromed\Flash\
    4. Re-installed NI-Service-Center
    5. Started NI-Service-Center and got Reaktor5.1.2 successfully activated

    I have not yet loaded the upgrade 5.1.2 for Reaktor. Can I do that, or will I experience a similar problem?

    My problem with Kontakt 2.2 and Reaktor 5.12 may be different from those above because I am running Windows, and I only had problems with those two updates on my laptop. The desktop install went fine once reg support cleaned out my account, but that didn't seem to help with the laptop.
    So: my account was cleaned up (Nov. 24th), I tried all fixes posted on this forum, and, nothing worked, and I posted earlier in this thread where I am now.
    At least I have usable copies of all instruments on my laptop, but I would like to be able to run the updates eventually.
    Any suggestions?
    By the way, do you know why updating anything changes all the program's info on the Manage Reg page and in Service Center? I suppose it has something to do with when the updates need activation, but it changes the install date for Komplete 4, and Komplete 3 too, when I tried reinstalling Kontakt 2 from that disk, which is very confusing in keeping track of which auth refers to which install.
    Also, why would uninstalling Kontakt 2 and then reinstalling it from the original (K3) disk (as was suggested) result in extraneous separate auths for Kontakt that weren't there before? Shouldn't that have all been part of the K3 info, since it was in the .xml file?

    Hello Markus,

    I wiped every NI-related plist I could find, removed Komplete4 completely, reinstalled Komplete4, installed all UB upgrades (Guitar Rig, Kontakt, Reaktor), started Service Center, clicked Next, Next, and ...

    IT WORKED! :)

    All products are now authorized correctly!

    Very big thanks for your effort to keep us informed and updated through this forum, very appreciated.

    This worked to resolve the Flash problem with Service Center if anyone else is experiencing the same problem as I had following the K2.2 update. Almost all programs that use Flash install their own copy on the hard drive, so the following instructions from Stefanie Alisch in Customer Support:

    "... the Flash installer may not have updated all instances of the Flash plugin on your PC. In order to fix this, go to Start>Search and look for all files named

    "npswf32.dll

    "There may be several of these on your machine, there will be one for each program that uses the Flash plugin.

    "You can determine the version of each one by right-clicking and choosing Properties>Version, you will see a version number there.

    "Each one of these needs to be version 8.0.22 or higher for the Service Center to function properly.

    "If any of these files is an older version than 8.0.22, it should be deleted. If you then make a copy of one of the updated npswf32.dll files and put it in the same folder you deleted the older one from, everything should work fine."

    I also uninstalled an older version of Flash MX and some other apps with Flash, but this worked to fix SC. I reinstalled the other apps later. So... numerous uninstalls and re-installs and a week of studio time lost, but it's all working now!

    Is there still an issue with "problem #2" where the plist files were being improperly written (or something like that you previously mentioned)?

    Just wanted to check before trying to install Kontakt 2.2 again (no Komplete package--- just the single product).

    I only got an initial acknowledgement on my first support ticket (from a week ago) today; it contained no info.

    could you explain again all I have to do:

    I use both Kontakt 2 as a plugin and standalone.
    At first I could authorize standalone but not plugin.
    So I tried to follow your advices : Now Demo-mode everywhere.
    I tried again. My Kontakt 2-2 is considered as "activated" in service-center. I'm lost.

    I'm having a problem with Komplete 3->Komplete 4->Kontakt 2.2.0, where Kontakt 2.2.0 seems to be authorized according to the SC, but does not start at all. No window, no nothing.
    The same goes for Battery 3.0.1.

    I tried the procedure with reg-deletion and reinstall as described in the first post here, but it's the same I'm afraid.

    I finally could activate Kontakt2-2 / standalone
    But I still cannot get it as plugin in Finale! (I get demo mode)
    What can I do?

    I have the Komplete 3 -> Komplete 4-> Kontakt 2.2 problem, too. G4 & OS 10.3.9.

    Besides Kontakt I cannot get Battery 3 to work.

    Please help. Ich bin verzweifelt.

    Ironically I didn't have a problem authorizing, however Kontakt will no longer boot up as a standalone or as a pluggin in Protools (LE 6.9) since I downloaded and authorized the 2.2 binary update.

    Currently running from Komplete 3, I recieved Komplete 4 but too nervous to update yet.

    Powerbook G4, OSX 10.3.9, 1.33 GHZ

    I havn't seen anyone else here with this problem.
    I'm thinking the only solution is just reinstalling Kontakt 2?

    I am glad to hear that many more of you can now user Kontakt 2.2!

    trying to address all of your questions here. I am also sending some more accounts to the cleaning team. stay tuned for status.

    * stand-alone works but plug-in does not: most certainly you are not loading the 2.2 plug-in but an earlier version; re-run the 2.2 updater and make sure to select the plug-ins

    * will this fix work for other NI updates: it should since the underlying problems are the same as far as we know

    * problems with Flash: see notes below

    * ProTools 6.9: is not supported any more in Kontakt 2.2; please either update to PT 7.x or go back to Kontakt 2.1.1 using the steps below

    * goofa_man, are you on Mac or PC? sorry support request are backlogged for at least 5 days at this point.

    * PhoenixGTR, please contact support directly since I am not familiar with all the details in your case.
