I have been recording my band with cakewalk for a month or so now, and I recently picked up Kontakt 2. I have had the program for a few days now but I still haven't figured the whole thing out yet. For some reason, whenever I set it as a plug-in under the "Effects" tab in the track properties no sound comes out. I'm not sure what I am doing wrong. I set an instrument and have a few notes in the sequencer but for some reason nothing comes out. It works with my normal hardware Midi stuff, but not Kontakt. Do I need to set it up as something other than an effect or something?

    Any help would be wonderful.

    Thanks,
    Adam

You need to use Kontakt as an instrument, not an effect. It takes MIDI as input and spits out audio. It can't do audio-to-audio, as an effect would do.

Ok, I set it as a "Soft Synth" and it made a track specifically for it but it still won't make any sound. I stopped using it as an effect and it still doesn't want to work. Any idea what might be wrong? What should I set the inputs and outputs to?
    Thanks for the info!

Make sure the output channels of your MIDI tracks match the MIDI channels of the Kontakt Instruments and the input channels of your Synth tracks match the Kontakt Instruments audio channels.
