kontakt 3.01 downgrade?

I 'upgraded' from k1.2 to k3 maybe 3 weeks ago.

I am on the verge of giving up.

Does anyone know if it's possible, wise or sane to go back to k2?

If so how can I do it?

Kontakt3 is a pain in the *****

I was told ten days ago that there was an update coming out in a week which would solve my problem. (a long week!)
I still can't get Kontakt3 to even load up (I have tried two completely different computers) and have now reverted to Kontakt2 (I never unloaded it), although I seem to get glitches with Kontakt in Sonar7 that I didn't get before I tried to load 3.
It wouldn't be so bad if the new samples were usable in Kontakt2.
What a of waste time and, by the look of it, money!

 

how do I get v2?

DO you think if I call the sales desk up they will give it to me?

I already bought fm7, kontakt 1-1.2 and k3.

I don't think you they will give you k2.

Only one way to be sure.

 

Have you installed the v3.0.1 Update? Does it help?

 

k3.01

I installed this about 1 hour after it was released.

It fixed the freezing with the tone machine at speed zero.

Apart from that - still loads of crashes particularly with the sample editor, loop editor and cubase 4.1.

The undo/redo functions just do not work at the sample level.

So k3.01 does not fix a great deal for me:-(

 

I was happy with 3.0 - shouldn't have updated to 3.01. 3.01 has many problems, so I am back to using 2.2. Something went really wrong with the 3.01 update, which hopefully NI will address quickly and get it sorted out. I'm just going to stick with K2 until there's a 3.1 or something.

K3.0 has not given me any problems.

I just picked up Kontakt 3 today and installed the latest update. First impression...this is a huge upgrade over Motu's Mach 5 Version 1.

Tonight I am trying to get Wave Lab 6 to work as an external editor. When I select the external editor button, Wave Lab 6 opens up the right sample. However, when I play the sample in Wave Lab 6, it plays back barely audible and distorted.

When I close Wave Lab, Kontakt 3 playback is fine and vice versa.

 

Kontakt 3.0 works fine here - while Kontakt 3.01 does NOT work.
The 3.01 gives me constant the impression of CPU overload (this 'funny' noise, glitches, pops...) - but the CPU has no overload. Even setting the latency to large values will not help.

For my use case did I not found problems in 3.0

System:
MAC 1.86GHz Dual Core
OS 10.5 Leopard
RME Fireface 400

 

I just installed the update and it works fine.

 

I noticed as part of the 3.01 upgrade you get:

Crash with Cubase 4 and Spectrasonics fixed

....I get the feeling NI rushed this product out without testing it properly. Profits before customers etc.... How could they not have known that It crashes with Cubase 4? Unbelievable.
Kontakt should come with a warning on the box: 'CAUTION : May Not Work'

 

Or "caution: product has been known to produce intense rage!"

I am with you on that boat though voyager, Ni did rush this release, they were competing with GS, they slapped a new paint job and the car and called it an upgraded model!

I am happy I did not buy K3, but I feel for those who did.

I just purchased (and tried to install) Garritan Personal Orchestra. It installed fine..but, I can't run it! Everytime I try to run the Kontackt2 player (version 3.0) I get an erroer msg stating that Kontakt player 2 has experienced problems and needs to shut down. Garritan claims it's NI's problem and NI claims it's Garritan's.. I'm about to send this thing back for a refund and never deal with either companies products again.

Is gs really a competitor of kontakt?

I never considered it really...

 

Not competing very well, I might add, as GS has at least one actual new worthwhile feature. It comes in a 64 bit version.

I actually think they were just trying to get a Komplete 5 out the door, needed more than 2 product additions/upgrades and decided they'd include Kontakt in that mix and eventually get to actually upgrading it sometime in the next calendar year. What you see is not actually a finished version. (my opinion)

The real Kontakt 3.x will be something like 3.5.
