    Hi everybody,

I want to bring you the good news that the next Kontakt update will be even bigger than originally announced so far.

The next version will be Kontakt 3.5, and while it's still a free update, it will have a revised engine that improves many important aspects, including memory adressing, DFD performance and CPU consumption.

    Version 3.5 at a glance:

    - Full 64-bit compatibility and 64bit-memory adressing on Windows and Mac
    - New DFD engine with drastically reduced memory footprint
    - Optimized sampling engine with substantial performance increase
    - Advanced multiprocessor support
    - New browser feature for Kontakt Player libraries
    - Direct MIDI Learn for all sliders and knobs, including performance views

These are just the major features. The new version will also include a lot of minor improvements and fixes, and it will also bring Pro Tools Leopard compatibility, which is connected to the new engine in 3.5.

Kontakt 3.5 will enter beta testing in November, and the current plan is to make a public beta version available to all users in December. Stay tuned!

    Regards, Thomas

    Thanks a lot!

These are really really really great news! Now I just have to wait for Cubase 4 to become 64bit and then the sky is the limit.

Now working will become just pure fun! :)

My assumption is that you upgrade to K3 ($149 U.S. no idea about euros) and from there it's free update.

. . Someone on the Omnisphere, er, I mean Northern Sounds forum is quoting 129€ in Germany.

Advanced multiprocessor support sounds interesting - up until now Kontakt has always complained if you try to use MP with a low latency interface. Can I assume this limitation has now been overcome? If so I hope this bodes well also for future versions of KORE.

I would have to assume that what he means.

    Hey Thomas

I also have to assume this also stems from the Kore 2 update. It also will be going in to beta testing soon.

    I have beta test Kompakt.
I am also volunteer for beta testing K 3.5, I have nice very intensive test to run using QLSO Platinum end EXS samples
Also I could check if all the bugs I have reported for K2 are fixed in K 3.5

Most of the Mac-OS-X sequencers (Logic, Digital Performer, ProTools) are still 32 bit. Is it nevertheless possible to use more than 4 GB of RAM when you load Kontakt 3.5 as a plug-in in these sequencers?
