I really hope someone from NI says it is actually a 64 BIT app, otherwise I see no reason to upgrade.

agreed.... why upgrade if i can't load more samples?

i'm not entirely sure about the mechanics of this whole 64 bit issue.
I've heard that there are potential drawbacks, such as track count
    on the DAW's.

All I know is that I've had one major problem for over a year now......

I can't load more than 1.99 gigs of samples into ram on my Mac Pro 3ghz.
As soon as I reach 2 gigs, the activity monitor says i've allocated
16,777,216 TB. Yes, terrabytes. Then it crashes.

I think they made a big mistake releasing kosmetik 3 without at least coming up with a clever work-around. (like i've heard exs has done)
They would have been better off waiting, and then solving it.

Now, I'll jump ship the very second someone releases a sampler
which allows me to load more than 4 gigs of samples. Hopefully it
will be kontakt, but i'll buy which ever product does it, with or without
    64 bits.

    Another vote for 64-bit support.

Tascams new GigaStudio 4 supports it:

    http://www.tascam.com/details;8,7,1055.html

    Quote from above link:

"The new version supports 64-bit operating systems like XP64 and Windows Vista 64, allowing users to access up to 128 gigabytes of RAM for loading massive sample libraries and compositional templates."

    Cheers

Agreed. I actually was shocked to see that Kontakt 3 wasn't supporting 64 bit. Even MacOS is going 64 bits... At one point NI will have to provide a 64 bit platform.
