    Hi Thomas,

K3 looks very nice indeed, not least the new "up to 5 performance views", something I have been missing.

There is, however, one vital piece of info I didn't see (maybe I just missed it, but then again reiterating it here wouldn't hurt :) ) on the presentation pages: is Kontakt 3 Vista x64 ready? Can it handle the large RAM requirements of perpetually growing libraries? And further in this vein: how many cores can it handle?

this update is feature-wise not spectacular but it looks as if usability will be greatly improved. I read that you also implemented VSampler1/2 import. Great, but I would really appreciate VSampler3 import since it used to be my main sampler. also, there is supposedly a much larger user base for v3 since it was once delivered with sonar. any chance to have this in a coming version 3.x?

...since Kontakt 3 won't feature a Kore browser :( (why actually?) - will it be possible to search for comments and the categories you can define in the instrument options?

Is Kontakt 3 a 64 bit app? Or does it still have the memory restrictions of K2? This would have been the biggest feature to have implemented, trumping all others. It's what everyone wants and needs.

Sad news if this is the case. We'll have Mac OS Leopard next month and still have the memory limit with K3. Not good. They must have gone over and over this at NI for Kontakt 3 and it must have been something only possible with a total rewrite of the app. Remember when someone asked last year about when K2 would be 64 bit, and NI's answer was "not anytime soon?"

Have the load/unload times been addressed?

Can you let us know if the major issue of extremely slow load and unload times (as has been reported many times) has been addressed in Kontakt 3. To date this has not even been acknowledged by NI, despite so many reports of this being a serious show-stopper for many.

I would be so happy to upgrade if this is the case, even though I've completely abandoned Kontakt v2 and purchased two other commercial VST samplers in the meantime (meaning I wasted the money on Kontakt 2 and have had to buy two replacement products subsequently).

    Many thanks.

At least they took a step in the right direction as far as midi setup and control goes. A very small step. Which they seem to have grouped the most common controls in one area to used in all vst.

I'm most interested in knowing if there are any changes or improvements to scripting language. None were mentioned in the video or information posted on the main page

I would gladly pay for 64 bit bugfree K2 but the current K3 offering doesn't seem that interesting.

Here's a practical question. If I upgrade to K3 can I retain K2 at least until I'm sure that I like K3 better? If there is some technical or licensing problem that precludes having both on the same machine at the same time, then I will be reluctant to upgrade.

Is there a detailed list somewhere about the changes to the KSP?

I think Bob present a couple of the most important questions.

Flashing around a new huge library that a good portion of the users will not use and some new eye candy is not a great reason to upgrade.

TO add to what Bob asked (will we be able to run both K2 and K3 on the same machine without licensing conflicts AND what improvements were made to the KSP)

Can we expect better product stability? Will there be new updates to K2?

I might be naive here or have a case of wishful thinking, but I would EXPECT you to release an update the day of K3's release that automatically makes K2 run stable on all systems, can I expect that? I means surely a company would not release a complete new version of their current product unless the one in use now is completely stable. Right?

FYI, kontakt 1.5 and kontakt 2 were separate applications, so when upgrading, you could still use both aplications.
i guess it will be the same between 2 and 3.

I hope the key commands work when used as a plugin.

That alone would improve workflow 10fold

Just bought Kontakt 2 and Guitar Rig 2

I just purchased both Kontakt 2 and Guitar Rig 2 on Aug. 30, received it on Monday, installed it today and found out about Kontakt 3 and Guitar Rig 3.
I honestly thought I would qualify for both upgrades for free but I guess I was 2 days too early......
