    no additional infos here?
whats new in kontakt 4 apart from that instrument morphing thing and how does this work?
will the exchange samples function work?
will there be storable favorites instead of the lock quick jump thing?
will it be possible to use a compressor as a send effect?

I'm VERY exited about the morphing thing. Just what i was hoping for! :)

But I'm worried about it being difficult to us, is it? Can i use this on all the solo instruments i have? And ensemble instruments for that matter? :) I'm worried because only the core library seem to be using it so i guess it's not all that easy to apply. There's go to be somebody around here who can answer this? Please? Please? Please?

    Congratulation NI.

    There's some upgrade info here:

    http://www.native-instruments.com/#/en/products/producer/kontakt-4/?page=973

Looks like k1/k2/k3 -> k4 is going to be $149/e129

    and k1/k2/k3 -> Komplete6 is going to be $299/e279

That Komplete 6 deal is tempting, but it seems like I've seen complaints about the Komplete packages in the past. Were there problems upgrading the individual items in the Komplete package or something like that? Frankly, for the music I do half of the Komplete package I don't need. But I'd love to get my hands dirty with Reaktor, and the upgrade is less than the cost of Reaktor alone. Would sure be nice if the economy didn't stink right now! But if owning Reaktor out of Komplete6 is *no different* than owning it as if I bought it standalone, like I said, I'm tempted.

K4 upgrade worthwhile...the Komplete upgrade not so, as I already own most of the products individually.

That would be one of my questions also: If one does have Komplete, can one later upgrade individual products? Or is one forever committed to only full Komplete upgrades or nothing?

Sad to see programs like Pro-53 and B4 discontinued. I don't understand this decision. Why drop already successful products? Is it so much to keep them working with future OS updates?

TBH, You would be better off selling your individual licenses and then buy the upgrade. I did this recently with the Komplete 5 deal, and with selling Reaktor, Abysnth and Battery, I made more than the cost of K5!

exper, could you expand on this a bit? "selling of your individual licenses", that is?

    thanks,

This upgrade will DEFINITELY get my money.

The TAG browser is DEFINITELY worth the upgrade alone, and I think I will finally sell my entire Roland XV machine along with all of the SRX cards I purchased. I'll miss some of the sounds, but the ability to search by "Organ, Electric Piano", etc. was the main reason why equipment like that stuck around for so long in my studio.

    Good Riddance Old School Synths!

Basically, I just advertised them on Craigslist, harmony central and the ableton forum. NI will do a customer lisence transfer. You just have to write to NI's customer service and ask about removing the liscenses from your account. Really easy process.

Wow Kontakt 4 looks, and sounds, great, to me! The choirs are the iceing on the cake I've been wanting for a long time. This is a no brainer except maybe the upgrade costs from 3.5 seem a little high, mind you I have yet to do a currency conversion yet. I think NI is producing some extremely interesting instruments/sounds and I love the direction they're heading too.

Any more details on the Mellotron samples? These could be the deal-breaker for me. I was about to buy GForce MTron Pro.

the mail newsletter talks about a ncw file compression for samples.

i hope this is no must and only an option.
if i have to save my kontakt samples in ncw so that only kontakt can read them, it would be a nightmare

To me ergonomics is the most important thing
Therefore I don't care about some morph **** unless they sort the zoom thing out in the sample editor
E.g You can only move start and end points of the sample without zoom on
Please add guru style zooming with draw down of mouse
    The practical first please

...basically you sell all your liecence except for the qualifiying one - in this case Kontakt. I did this when there had been a similar upgrade path to Komplete 2 - I think, back then there were serveral upgrade paths (for users with three products and for users with six or seven products). I had five products, so I sold the most popular ones (Absynth and Kontakt) and I used the money from that to buy the upgrade to Komplete - I think, I even made a little benefit from that). And as a Komplete owner you can still upgrade single products, if some future Komplete upgrade isn't your taste. However, in general it is much cheaper to upgrade Komplete than a single product...

Back on topic - does anyone know how the new performance views are designed? Has this improved - hopefully with some WYSIWYG design panel like the one in Reaktor? The screenshots also show performance views with knobs & buttons only - what about our beloved sequencer scripts, we can still use those? And what about that tagged-based browsing? Does it feature an extensive categorisation system like Kore? Can we create custom tags? Can we also tag samples? Or does this apply to Kontakt instruments only? I wouldn't want to save each sample as a Kontakt instrument in order to have the ability to search them.
    ---
...somewhere in the description it is said that the factory library itself is saved in an uncompressed format, so I guess, saving in the ncw format is optional...

    hello,

The zooming issue have been fixed in 3.5. and 4.0.
Note that you can easily zoom in at a specific point of the sample with [OPTION]+drag. [OPTION]+Click will bring you back to the previous zoom state.
It works pretty much like the Logic zoom scheme.

    best,

    Frank

    Hi,

Of course, you can use all the previously released scripts. Many of the existing factory scripts such as the 'drum computer' provide an improved GUI layout in version 4.
The new database has all the KORE features and you can additionally create custom tags as well as compile your own attribute sets. The tagging feature is available for samples, too.

    best,

    Frank

I haven't seen a release date. Did I miss it somewhere or it hasn't been announced yet?

EDIT: oops, never mind....October 1st. (*sigh* I want it NOW!)
