In my Kontakt 5 player, I'm using Alicia's Keys in addition to Impact Soundworks' Pearl piano library in Mainstage 3 (not at the same time obviously) and I'm experimenting with different preload buffer sizes to maximize my CPU efficiency. I changed the buffer from the default 60 kb down to 24 kbs for the heck of it.....and no matter what I do, I can NOT get it to save any amount other than 24 kb. I've saved the instruments, the multi, the Mainstage channel, and of course the entire Mainstage concert. Always comes back as 24 kb. It's the weirdest thing. Ideas anyone?? I'm stuck and would sure appreciate some advice.
    Thanx!!

It is a KK system wide property...

you can only save it for the system you use (and this is what the property made for - adjust for the sound card or interface you use)...
these property is not saved in any instrument or preset or something like that - this is a property for the system you use...

You can disable the global preload buffer setting in Options, but in all honesty, I don't think you need to do that. 24 KB is a pretty good default these days, as hard drives are faster than ever (especially if you have your libraries on SSDs - the buffer can be even lower then).

he was to save the preload-buffer into an instrument preset...

Yeah, I know how to read ;) That can only be done after global preload buffer size option is disabled.

really - how and where ???

okey have found the pre-load buffer size, but can't deactivated...

still 6kb is the minimum - and NI will no guarantees to get drops with other buffer-sizes under the 60kb (told the screen)...

    1. Please don't multipost, edit your original post instead.

    2. Global preload buffer size CAN be deactivated, Options->Memory. What you found was probably Instrument Options->DFD in instrument edit mode...

    3. NI doesn't have to give you any guarantees. 6 KB works just fine on SSDs.

Thanks for the responses guys. I had already tried all the suggestions you all mentioned....but what's weird is that I WAS able to save different preload buffer sizes in Kontakt up until a few days ago. BTW my piano plugins are working just fine, but I'm always looking to squeeze as much out of my CPU and make things as efficient as possible. It kinda bugs me when I can't alter settings and experiment.
