Kontakt 5 version that works with Windows XP

Does anyone know where I might be able to get a copy of the older version of Kontakt 5 that works with XP.

Waiting to hear back from Support on if i can get the original versions of the instruments that might possibly work with kontakt 4 but I'm worried about kontakt 4 crashing cubase (another unresolved issue in my Native Instrument world). I'm thinking an older version of Kontakt 5 might be the way to go or at least worth a shot.

5.1.0 is the last version that will work with XP. Other than that you can always download the latest version and then use Universal Extractor to unpack the setup EXE file, and then pick out Kontakt 5.exe and Kontakt 5.dll from there, overwrite your older versions, voila, you've updated it.

 

universal extractor? I thought there would just be an archive where someone or NI could sent me a link or something.

Hi Evil Dragon, I'll appologize in advance, i dont know a whole lot about computer stuff. What is a proper installer? (other then the opposite of an improper installer, I could se me setting you up for that one, hehe)

I have the latest update of Kontakt 5 in my recycle bin (i havent emptied it yet) that the support center promped me to update to but i didn't know it only worked with wondows 7. It opens through the Zip thing but it wont install because i have XP so I tossed it.

When I open it it goes through the Zip program and does it's own thing to set up. I want to say RAR has something to do with it(?). So I'm not sure if that is the thing to get the files from or is there some other program needed?

 

If you got a setup.exe after unpacking that's all you need - but yes, the latest version of Kontakt will not install on XP because the installer is programmed that way.

 

ok, i'll see if I can open it what I can do about the unpacking. i think I usualy just set up up directly from the zip file so this is unexplored territory for me.

 

Hi man, please HELP! I was about to update my Kontakt player to the latest Version and followed all the steps you mentioned (with the universal extracter) I work on WIN XP64. I extracted the files Kontakt5.exe and the dll to my previous versions locations, but the EXE won't start. I get an error "....kontakt5.exe is not a valid Win32 Application". I work with cubase 5 and in Cubase the plug-in also doesn't appear in the Virtual Instruments menu.
Is this the end for me and Kontakt? do you have any idea how to make this work? thanks and greets from Vienna

 

That is probably the end for you and Kontakt on XP. Latest builds were compiled in newer versions of Visual Studio that only support W7 onwards.

 

if memory serves.....
the latest version for XP is 5.3.X (unpack the .exe with 7zip)

thanks so far. i namanged to install the update. it runs well in standalone mode, but the vst version in cubase is demo?!
