Hi. I want to create a library instrument for personal use and maybe commercial. Do I need to have Kontakt 5 player to create the library nicnt file or can I use Kontakt 6? If I have to use Kontakt 5, is there a free version of kontakt 5 player I can use? I never purchased Kontakt 5, however I own the full version of Kontakt 6 along with KOMPLETE 13 SELECT. Any help would be appreciated.

Gotcha. Thanks. Will creator tools create the nicnt file needed?

Pretty sure the .nicnt file is part of the licensing and from the small amount of time I have played with Creator Tools, it does not create that file.

    Qualifier… I could be wrong!!!

Hi. I was able to add my custom instrument to the kontakt 6 library. I had to use Kontakted By Abyss and Kontakt 5 "PLAYER". I also had to go to into registry and remove the first library item because Kontakt 5 was telling that it was loaded, though I couldn't see it. I had to rewrite the nicnt file using Kontakted 5.5 so it would be listed properly in Native Access. When I loaded Kontakt 6, it was loaded as you can see in the image. My custom library entry is Equan Sounds. I have to tweak the wallpaper and move some stuff around to load the instrument, but that's expected. I would like to know what is needed to sell my instruments on native instruments? Thanks for your help. I appreciate it.

It would need to be licensed as I mentioned several times…you need to get in touch with NI, but pretty sure they would not want to sell a library that requires hacks, but rather you go through the proper licensing procedures…

here is a link with info on licensed vs unlicensed.

the page about licensing costs etc appears to be down, so an inquiry to NI would be needed. Matt @ NI can you offer some guidance on Library licensing?

Thanks Matt @ NI, it appears the link at the bottom of the page of the support doc I linked in post # 2 is not pointing to the right URL... Just an FYI!
